Final Fantasy 7
Disc 1
Mako Reactor 1
When you get off of the train, check the bodies of the guards to find 2 Potions. When you reach the end of the screen, 2 MP Soldiers will attack you, but they're weak, so just take them out with normal attacks. Proceed into Shinra's massive reactor. When you reach the locked gates, speak with Biggs and Jessie to open the gates into the reactor. In the room next to the elevator, search to find a Phoenix Down. Enter the elevator, where Barret joins your party for the remainder of the mission. Grab the Potion outside of the elevator and head further into the reactor. Save your game at the Save Point and continue to the center of the reactor. Pick up the Restore Materia, then Barret will order you to set the bomb. After a strange voice warns you, the bomb is set, but also triggers the security alarm and your first boss fight.
Boss Fight - Guard Scorpion
The Guard Scorpion has four attacks: Search Scope, Scorpion Tail, Rifle, and Tail Laser. The only one you really need to worry about is Tail Laser, and even that isn t a problem if you know not to attack when it is shaking. Other than that, pound on it with Bolt, normal attacks, and Limit Breaks until it succumbs.
Escape From the Reactor
The Guard Scorpion is gone, but if you don t get out of the reactor in 10 minutes, you ll be gone too! Quickly equip the Assault Gun from the Scorpion onto Barret and get the heck out of there. SAVE your game at the save point, and continue up until you reach Jessie. Help her out, then head up to the elevator. Have her open the doors out of the doomed reactor, then train Cloud and Barret until there are about 30 sec on the timer or your health is low (don t use any healing items because you will be healed when you get out. Now get out and watch the reactor die. When you reach the train station area, follow Barret to find a flower girl knocked down by all the chaos caused by your handiwork. Buy a flower from her and go on. Continue until you have a run-in with some MPs. Run from them and you will get on the train to Sector 7, Avalanche HQ.
Sector 7
Upon getting off the train, head left, use the Save Point, and head over to HQ, the 7th Heaven. Go in after Barret clears everyone out of the bar. Talk to Tifa and give her the flower you bought. When Barret orders everyone downstairs for a meeting, have a drink with Tifa and then head down via the pinball machine. After the news and the meeting, take a break. When you wake up, head up. Tifa will make sure you stay with Avalanche. Barret will give you 1500 Gil as payment for your services at Reactor 1 and offer 200 for help at #5. Skip the demonstration on how to use Materia because it is too time consuming. Now you can explore Sector 7. Head over to the shops to pick up a Fire Materia, maybe a grenade or two, some potions, and some Phoenix Downs. Stop by Beginner s Hall to pick up an All Materia, then head out to the train.
Raid on Sector 5
When you get on the train, the alarm goes off because someone screwed up your ID s. Run from car to car to escape the sensor, but beware of the guy walking opposite you. He sometimes steals an item, but if your fast, you can get it back. When (and if) you reach the last car, talk to Tifa to get off of this train. Which car you jump off of determines how far you have to walk before the reactor. Try to at least get past the first car. When you get to the green beams (security sensors) look to the left to find the entrance to the reactor. Follow any path you want, they ll take you to the same place, Reactor 5.
The Second Reactor
Jump on to the slide and slide down. If this place looks familiar, it should because this is almost identical to the first reactor. Follow the same path to the reactor core, set the bomb, and once again get the heck out of there, even though there isn t a time limit. You can t go up the slide, though, so follow the first reactor s path until you reach the entrance. Find the set of six buttons. The team has to press all of them simultaneously to open the door out of there. When you succeed, save and then head out into an ambush. President Shinra comes out and drops off a friend for you to play with.
Boss Fight - Air Buster
If your Limit Breaks are built up, then Limit Break its back for a very quick fight. Otherwise, pound it with Bolt and normal back attacks. You only need to beware of its Big Bomber and Rear Gun attacks. When it finally succumbs, Cloud is knocked off to the slums below.
Sector 5 Church
You are very lucky to have survived that 50-meter fall. When you wake up, you meet Aeris who immediately joins your party. All of a sudden, Reno of the Turks walks in to kidnap Aeris, so guess what? You have to protect her! Go into the back of the church, where Aeris is cut off from Cloud. Run to the top of the church, always choose to have Aeris wait and knock over the barrels in this order, left, top, right. When Aeris finally catches up to you get out of the church through the hole in the roof. Aeris will explain Shinra s attempts to kidnap her and then show you the way to her house.
Sector 5 Slums Right now, the path to Sector 6 is blocked by to lazy talkers, so head to Sector 5 and purchase anything that you need, particularly the Titan Bangle. If you find any secret drawer with 5 Gil, DON T TAKE IT!! You ll receive a Turbo Ether later in the game from him if you don t take it. Now on to Aeris house. Aeris House In the flower garden, grab an Ether and a Cover Materia before entering her house. Go in to meet her stepmother, who asks you to leave Aeris in the middle of the night. Follow her instructions quietly, picking up the package at the door as you go. However, Aeris found out what you're up to so you have to take her along anyway. Head over through Sector 6 to find out what s happening. Sector 6 The first part of Sector 6 is in ruins, so watch out for the Hell House monster, and the Whole Eater packs. Hell House has 450 HP and launches relatively powerful attacks like Hell Bomber, Demi, and Suicide Drop. Whole Eater packs are a problem because they often take off 70HP a pop. When you get through the ruins of Sector 6, take a breather in the playground. If you by any chance see Tifa, follow her. Wall Market When you get into Wall Market, go to the top of the town to see Don Corneo. Unfortunately, you can t get in unless you re a girl, so guess what you get to do? Go over to the Dress Shop and talk to the woman at the counter. She will tell you where the owner is. Go where she says she is and talk to the owner. He will make a dress for you, but you need to tell him what you want the dress like. Tell him you want soft and shimmers for the best dress, the Silk Dress; anything with clean for the Cotton Dress; and soft and shiny for the Satin Dress. Now go and try your new dress on to see what you need. Head over to the Gym to get a wig. Beat the strongman in the squats contest for the Blonde Wig, tie for a Dyed Wig, and lose for a Plain wig stored under the ring. If you want to collect any other items for your outfit, look in the Side Quests section. When you re done collecting the items, head back to the dress shop to put on your dress and accessories, save your game and head back to Corneo s Mansion. When the guard lets you in, look for an open door to find Tifa. Then the Don s assistant will let you in to Corneo s room. If you are chosen, you get to deal with the weird desires of Corneo. Otherwise, you get tossed into his employee s room, where you have to fight all of them to get out. Find the other person who wasn t chosen and then head into our friend s room. Interrogate him, and then get dropped out via a trap door to the sewers below. The Sewers and Train Graveyard Check on Aeris and Tifa to initiate a boss fight with Don Corneo s reject disposal system, Aps.
Boss Fight - Aps Start off by treating Aps to Fire magic, normal attacks, and Limit Breaks. Beware of Aps Tsunami attack, which causes damage to everyone on screen. If the wave comes from behind Aps, it will cause serious damage to him and only minor damage to you. If it comes from behind you, it will cause about 40 damage to Aps and around 100 to you. When he is beaten, you will receive a Phoenix Down. Sewers and Train Graveyard 2 With Aps out of the way, quickly get through the sewers, grabbing the Steal Materia. When you get out of the Sewer use the Save Point next to you immediately. Look in barrels to find 3 Potions, 3 Hi-Potions, an Echo Screen, and an Ether. Climb up the ladder of the first train and head right to reach the next screen. In the next screen, find a train that you can get into to move it. Then find another train you can move to open a path out of the Graveyard to reach Sector 7.
Sector 7 - Battle of the Pillar When the team reaches the pillar, the attack is already started and everyone but Barret is out of the game. Purchase any and all supplies you need from the man on the left, then head up the pillar. When you reach the top of the pillar, take some time to re-equip Barret, then the real battle will begin.
Boss Fight - Reno Reno has two attacks you should be aware of: Electro-Mag Rod, which causes about 140 damage and may paralyze the victim; and Pyramid, which encases the victimin a Pyramid that can be broken only by a physical attack. Take down Reno with plenty of Fire and Ice, and watch the wuss run. Unfortunately, you re too late to stop the bomb from destroying the pillar. Post Bombing The team is dumped off at the ruined playground next to what was Sector 7. Barret is in a rage over Shinra s actions, so leave him alone for now. After everyone recovers from the shock of what just happened, head over to Aeris house. Marlene, Barret s daughter, is safe there. Aeris stepmother tells you about how everything happened. After she s finished, get some rest, then head over through Sector 6, collecting the Sense Materia along the way to Wall Market. Look for a small group of kids to follow. They will show you the Golden Wire of Hope, but you will need some 300 Gil for batteries at the weapons shop, so buy them and then go up the wire. When you reach the swinging wire, time your jump just as the wire is pausing on your side or so to get on the wire. When you get up top, drop down to the battery socket to receive an Ether. Repeat the wire procedure and then head up to Shinra HQ. Shinra HQ (Last part of Midgar) When you reach the HQ of Shinra, choose to go up the stairs if you don t want random battles, or to go in all guns blazing for lots of EXP and several other items, including the Hardedge, which is Cloud s best weapon for this point in the game. You don t need a walkthrough for the steps, so if you chose the steps, see you on floor 59. For the main entrance, you will face random battles, so stock up on supplies in the second floor store. Head to the elevator and proceed to fight until you reach the 59th floor. If you encounter a Soldier: 3rd, try to steal the Hardedge from them. Also, Moth Slashers are carrying the best armor for now, Carbon Bangles, so steal a few from them. When you reach the 60th floor, fight the guards there to progress and gain the 60th Floor Keycard. On the 60th floor, you need to sneak past the guards so they don t see you. If they do see you, you will be sent back to the beginning to try again after being attacked. Once you make it across, head for floor 61. On the 61st floor, talk to the man near the staircase and then pretend he does not exist to make him give you the Keycard to the 62nd Floor. On the 62nd floor, you ll find the Mayor-In-Name-Only Domino, who will give you his Keycard for floors 63-65 if you can guess his password. Do not take any tips from Hart outside, instead you should take our tips at no charge. To find his password, look at the names of the directories of each library. Find the files with even numbers that don t belong. Use the number to determine which letter is in the password. Repeat for all four libraries and then unscramble the word. If you get the password right on the first try, Domino will give you the very useful Elemental Materia. The 63rd floor is optional, but you can obtain a Star Pendant, a Four Slot armor, and an All Materia for completing this little challenge. To start, go to the computer, activate it, and find out that you can only open 3 doors. Go and open the door closest to the upper-right on the screen. Look at the 2 gates blocking the south passages. Choose the one on the left to pick up Coupon A. Then head into the duct system and enter the next duct opening to collect Coupon B. Then open the door on the left to get the last coupon. After that, head back to the computer to trade the coupons for the following items Coupon A - Star Pendant Coupon B - Four Slots Coupon C - All Materia Now, head on up to the 64th floor, which is a much-needed rest area, so save your game and get some rest. Go on to the 65th floor. Open the chests so that you get some Midgar Pieces, then insert them into the Midgar model to open another chest. Repeat this until the chest containing the Keycard to Floor 66. On floor 66, listen in to the conversation with the execs, then head off to the 67th floor. On the 67th floor, take a look at the disturbing stuff Shinra has created, then use the Save Point and pick up the Poison Materia by the Save Point. On the 68th floor, Hojo (the scientist talking about Aeris in the conference) is preparing his next experiment, with Aeris as the target, so try to help her and open up the prison to release the other creature, Red XIII, who attacks Hojo. He will offer you his help for the Boss fight, so have Tifa go onto the sidelines with Aeris. Then, something rises out of the chamber and attacks the party. Boss Fight - HO512 and Sample: HO512-OPT HO512 comes with its own friends, essentially insuring that HO512 will always be in the back row. In this case have Barret hit it with normal attacks, and everyone else use magic or Limit Breaks. Unleash everything on HO512 because if it goes, so do its friends. For beating him, you receive a Talisman. Oh, by the way, HO absorbs Poison magic, so don t equip it on this Boss Fight After HO512 is beaten, Collect the Enemy Skill Materia in the cage and collect the 68th floor Keycard, then head down to the 66th floor elevators, where you re in for a nasty little surprise. After your little conversation with the President, you are taken over to your cells to await your fate. Escape from Midgar When you wake up, you re going to notice something very strange, a trail of blood. Follow the trail of blood to the top. When you get up to the 69th floor, save your game. On the 70th floor, you ll discover everything that has happened, so choose your party and leave for the 69th floor elevators. You will be attacked by the Hundred Gunner and Heli Gunner. Boss Fights - Hundred and Heli Gunners Both bosses are weak against Bolt, so constantly hit it with magic, Barret's normal attacks, and Limit Breaks. When the boss begins charging the Sensor Cannon, hit it with everything you ve got to destroy it before it can use Sensor Cannon. After the Hundred Gunner s demise, the Heli Gunner descends. Once again, just pound the Heli Gunner with everything including Bolt. After the two machines are destroyed, you receive a Mythril Armlet for your troubles. Fight the Power! Take a moment to optimally equip Cloud with Cure, the Elemental-Lightning Materia Combo, and assorted magic. Attack his pet, Dark nation and kill it before you go on to pounding Rufus. His Shotgun attack builds your Limit meter quickly, so use Limit Breaks and assorted everything else to bring him down. For beating him, you receive a Protect Vest and a Guard Source. After the fight go back to the 69th floor, save your game, and talk to Tifa. Now it s time to get the heck out of here! Take a moment to equip who ever will be in your party, make sure someone is equipped with the Lightning Materia, and read the directions to the game, then begin. Shinra s troops will chase you in their motorcycles, so use your sword to cut them down before they can attack the team. Take out the orange bikers first because the red bikers often try to lure you away from the truck so the others can cause some real damage. If you let everyone go down, then you are pathetic. Make sure that your three party members have at least some energy left because all damage inflicted in this sequence transfers to the Boss Fight. Eventually the Boss catches up to you and forces you into a fight. Boss Fight Motorball The boss gets in a weak back attack on your party, but don t worry about it. Hit it with Bolt as often as possible, and use Limit Breaks when they become available. Watch out for its first forms special attack, the Twin Burner, which causes about 80-90 fire damage to your whole party. In its second form, beware of Rolling Fire, which causes about 250 fire damage to each character. Make sure there s someone to act as the medic for the Rolling Fire attack. Winning this battle gets you a Star Pendant and your ticket out of Midgar. Choose your party and then head out of Midgar. Next Stop: Junon Harbor On your way to Junon, you may find a tower with a bird on top of it. This is Fort Condor. If you want to go there, look in the Side Quests Section for tips. Head on into the forests, where you may encounter a mystery Ninja (Yuffie). Beat her to get to a screen with a Save Point on it. Talk to her and you will start a dialogue. Choose these responses to get Yuffie to join the party. The responses in this order are: Not interested ...Petrified Wait a second! That s right. Let s hurry on. From here on, Yuffie will be in your group. From here, head to Junon. Junon Harbor Immediately Equip Cloud with the Long Range Materia you found in the Mythril Mine, Put Barret in your party, and give the remaining member the Choco/Mog Materia. Now give everyone assorted magic. Now head to the beach a keep your eyes open for your next battle. Boss Fight: Bottomswell This is a flying boss, so it can only be hit by magic, or long range attacks. Hit it with Choco/Mog or have Cloud equip the Choco/Mog Elemental combination in his weapon since Bottomswell is weak against Wind. Everyone else should pound it with everything they have. Beware of the Bubble attack, which encases the victim in a bubble that can only be broken by magic, and at the same time slowly suffocates them. Also, beware of its final attack, Tidal wave, which causes about 150 damage to each party member. For winning the battle, you ll receive a Power Wrist. This monster's demise brings your attention to a new problem; Priscilla isn t breathing. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform CPR on her and save her life. For doing this you get a free night s sleep. After you re rested, Priscilla gives you the Shiva Materia for saving her life and tells you about a little party going on uptown. You will need the help Priscilla offers you to get up there, so find a good spot to jump from. Climb up the ladder to reach uptown Junon. Shinra Party Cloud is mistaken for a soldier out of uniform and is unintentionally given the chance to disguise himself. When you go out into the street, go into the first door you see and purchase the Revive Materia for 3000 Gil. Try to purchase it now because soon it will be very useful. Now go to the door closest to the end of the screen and head down the guarded path to receive another Enemy Skill Materia. Now go where everyone else went to take part in the parade. Depending on what rating you receive for your performance, you can receive one of the following gifts. 29% or lower - Grenade 30-39% - 6 Potions 40-49% - 6 Ethers 50% or higher 5000 Gil. Now after the parade, you ll have to perform at Rufus send-off. Practice your timing then head out to purchase some new things for everyone. As you head along the main strip, head into every door to find new stuff, but don t purchase any swords for Cloud. You ll get one later. Now head all the way left to reach the send-off. Follow the orders given out by your commander . At the end of the performance, if you have a Rufus mood of 0-50, you get the Silver Glasses. 60-90 gets you an HP plus Materia, and a rating of 100 or higher will get you the useful Force Stealer sword for Cloud. Now head off onto the boat. Shinra Boat Grab all the items in the Cargo area before doing anything else. Find everyone else on the boat then head to the front of the boat to find Barret. Just when you think he's going to spazz and do something crazy, an alarm sounds! Select your party and save. Head downstairs and enter the once locked chamber. Climb up the ladder to get some extra stuff, and then examine the guard. Now you shall see a live example of his power and his friend. MAJOR Boss Fight - Jenova-Birth This boss can cause 200 damage to you by using its Tail Laser attack, which it can use twice in a row. It can also poison your party and cast Stop on someone. This is why I told you to get the Revive Materia. Hit this boss with your summons, magic, and Limit Breaks. You should also use the enemy skill Flamethrower to cause some major damage to the boss. Defeat Jenova to get a White Cape. After the battle, pick up the Ifrit Materia left behind and get out of that hell hole. Costa de Sol Look into President Shinra's personal Villa for some good free items, shop around for anything new you might need, particularly some Softs, and then head for the beach. Talk to Hojo and then head out of there. Mt. Corel Head through the straight path and be careful since Mt. Corel has some surprisingly strong enemies, some of which can cast Slow Stone on you. When you get to the train tracks, try and find a part of the track that breaks. When this happens, let yourself fall and hold left the first time and right the second time, rapidly pressing O. Doing this can get you a Wizard Staff and a Star Pendant. After that, pick up everything on the tracks. When you get to the second area, head on the upper path and go into the little house to open the way through to North Corel. After this follow the path to North Corel. North Corel and Gold Saucer Look at this place. It looks like a bomb went off through here. This is Barrets s hometown, by the way. When you have the chance, head out to the World Map and save your game. Then head over to the left to find the Gondola and the rest of the party. Barret will tell you what the heck happened to North Corel years ago before he left. When he s finished, get on the Gondola to ride to Gold Saucer. When you get to Gold Saucer, get a 1-day pass for 3000 Gil. Then head to Wonder Square, where you ll meet Cait Sith. He will make a prediction and then join your party. After that, you should head over to Battle Square to go on with the story. You will find out that being in the wrong place at the wrong time really stinks. Step through the Gateway to Heaven for your next stop. Corel Prison First thing you should follow Barret to the house. Beware of Bandits, if they steal an item from you, kill them before they escape, otherwise you ve permanently lost that item. Barret will tell you about the bodies in Gold Saucer. Now, save your game, equip the restore Materia on Barret, and go back to the entrance. Head through the path with a dead body then head right to find Barret s old buddy, Dyne. Unfortunately Dyne isn't to happy about the reunion Boss Fight - Dyne Dyne builds up your Limit Meter quickly, so keep your health up and use your Limit Breaks when they become available. Dyne has two attacks you should beware of. The First is the S-Mine, which is dangerous because he uses it right after his normal attack, in effect causing 300 damage. Keep his HP at least 350 and you ll be fine. Also be careful about his Molotov Cocktail attack which is as strong as his normal attack and is also his final attack. For winning the battle, you ll receive a Silver Armlet After the battle, Dyne gives you a memento of his wife then makes like a lemming to kill himself. Another award for beating Dyne is a chance to get out of this hellhole. When the boss, Mr. Coates, sees the memento, he immediately lets one member race. When you get up to the waiting room, grab the Ramuh Materia and get ready to race. During the race, hold R1 and R2 to slowly recharge your stamina meter and you should be fine. For winning, you will get out and get a Buggy for your troubles. Now, onto Gongaga. Gongaga Before you head into Gongaga, put Aeris into your party, make sure she knows Seal Evil, and build up her Limit Meter. When you enter Gongaga (the big pile of junk in the jungle), Reno and Rude will be there. You will have to fight them, but it shouldn't be too tough. Boss Fight - Rude and Reno At the start of this fight, have Aeris use her Seal Evil Limit Break to paralyze Rude and Reno. Once this is done, pound on Rude with summons, magic and Limit Breaks, since he is the healer in this battle. Once you take him out, Reno should also depart. For kicking ass on the Turks, you should receive a Fairy Tale (staff) and an X-Potion. After the Boss Fight head north to reach a ruined reactor. When Scarlet comes and checks out some junky Materia, check out the junky Materia to receive the Titan Materia. Head back over to the left to reach another junction. At this junction, grab the Deathblow Materia then head to the right to reach the small village of Gongaga. Here the only thing to do other than shopping is talking to an old couple in one of the huts. When your done, take the left path to the World Map. Cosmo Canyon Normally, it stinks when your Buggy breaks down. But it doesn't when you ve got such a cool place where it breaks down. Head into Cosmo Canyon. There, Red XIII is ecstatic at returning home. Save your game and stock up on the latest equipment. Talk to the man with a construction hat on. Tell him you re not here to study and he ll offer to fix the buggy for you. In Cosmo Canyon, you ll find out Red XIII s real name. On the way, Barret will discuss a little of AVALANCHE s history with you. Afterwards, Bugenhagen will tell you to meet him at the sealed door with 2 other party members. When you do, he will open the door and lead to into the Gi Cave. Gi Cave When you come in, equip your characters with items that prevent death. Most of the creatures in the cave can cast Death Sentence, so you kind of want to be prepared. In the first room, head into the caves and break the rocks until a new path opens. In the next room head left the first chance you have, but be careful of the golden stuff on the floor. If you run on it, it may cause you to slide into a wall of spikes. This wall will cause some damage to your party, but it will always leave them with at least 1 HP. This however, is still something you want to avoid, so be slow on the liquid. Head onto the path below the liquid to get an Added Effect Materia. Head back up and raid the second room, then move on to the third. In the third room, head into the fourth tunnel and into the web. When you touch the web, you will get into a tough fight with a Stinger, a spider-like creature with about 2200 HP. With those creatures, pound them until they succumb and be careful of its Sting Bomb attack. This attack does up to 500+ damage and may poison you, so keep your HP up! When you beat it, head down the tunnel to find an X-Potion. Then heal up and fight another Stinger in the second tunnel. After the fight, ransack the place again, and then head into the third room. The moment that you get into the next room, heal up, equip your best weapons, and equip your characters with anti- fire armor or accessories. When you approach the face, it comes alive. Know what it wants to do? That s right, it wants to kick your sorry little ass for visiting this place. Boss Fight: Gi Nattak and Soul Fires Make sure you have some Ethers on hand, or this guy could be a real pain in the neck, since he can and will drain your MP. Also, his Soul Fire cronies can get inside a character, where they can cause fire damage to you occasionally. When they aren t possessing you, they can heal themselves with their own magic. The best tactic for this boss is to hit it hard with Cure magic, since it is weak against Holy magic, which includes curative magic. If you have Cure 2, use it a lot to make the battle faster. It will typically deal over 1000 damage every time, and since the boss has only 5500 HP, this will make everything a heck of a lot easier. Also, use your summons, but only Choco/Mog, Shiva, and Ramuh, because all three are immune to Earth magic, a.k.a. Titan, and the Soul Fires absorb Fire, like Ifrit. You receive a Phoenix Down and the Wizer Staff. After the boss fight, learn more about Nanaki/Red XIII s parents and pick up the Gravity Materia on the way. When you get outside, it looks like Red isn t coming with you, but that s only what it looks like. Nibelheim According to Cloud and Tifa's memories, their hometown Nibelheim should be nothing but a big pile of ashes. Strange enough, the town is as it used to be 5 years ago. Everyone says that nothing happened. If you talk to the hooded guys, they will probably give you an item. After you ve picked up all the supplies you want, head over to the Shinra mansion.
Shinra Mansion This building used to be inhabited by some top Shinra execs. Now it is abandoned and ready to be filched. On the first floor in the upper-right room, you can find the Twin Viper. In the lower-right room, there is a Silver M-Phone. In the right half of the second floor, there is a Magic Source, while in the left section, there is an Enemy Launcher for Barret. In the upper-left room, there is a safe. Save your game, then enter the combination below to find a hidden boss. The combination is: Right 36, Left 10, Right 59, Right 97.
Boss Fight - Lost Number(Limit Break Battle) Put Aeris in her party and set her Limit to Level 1. Have her use her Seal Evil Limit Break to paralyze the boss. When you take off about half of its HP, then it will transform depending on the last hit before the transformation. If the last hit is from a spell, the creature will turn all red and cast strong spells on your party. If the last hit is from a physical attack, you will face the purple physical side. Try to get the red side or else most of your Limit Breaks are negated. Beware of the Lost Blow attack, which is only used after the transformation, since it causes about 700+ damage. When you finally beat it (It took me about 5 tries), you will receive the Basement Key, the Odin Materia, and Red XIII s ultimate Limit Break, Cosmo Memory. After the boss fight, head over to the secret stairway you found in the flashback. If you have the Basement Key, use it to unlock the door in the second screen. Inside here you ll find Vincent in a coffin. Talk to him and he will tell you a little info. Talk to him and he will give you more info, after which you can t open his coffin again. Now head into the abandoned library and you will find something or someone. Sephiroth is there and will give you a clue to where he s going next. Then he ll hit you with a Destruct Materia then leave. Now you can head off to Mt. Nibel. Mt. Nibel At the beginning of the mountain, take the side paths you see to collect a powerful Rune Blade for Cloud and a Plus Barrette for Red XIII. Head up the bridge and pray it doesn t break. When you reach the other side, take the long way down and then go all the way back up, take the second chute, go back up, and take the fourth chute to grab everything in the room. DO NOT examine the creature in the lower right of the screen. Instead, take the path next to the creature, drop off, and head through all the mountains. Make sure to pick up the All and Elemental Materia and the Sniper CR. Don't bother heading into the reactor because there is nothing in there. Instead, head into the small door to get back to where you started. Save your game, heal up, equip yourselves properly, then examine the creature to start a tough boss fight. Boss Fight: Materia Keeper This boss uses some deadly attacks like Big Horn and Hell Combo, which cause about 200-300 damage to a single person, and Trine, which causes about 500 Lightning damage to everyone. Use everything you have but do not have Vincent transform into the Galian Beast, since it uses fire attacks that heal the keeper, or Gravity. When the keeper is almost finished, it will use Cure 2 on itself to gain back about 1000 HP or so, so don t let up unless you need to heal. You ll receive a Jem Ring for winning the battle. After the boss fight, return to the Save Point and use a Tent if you have to, and pick up the Counter Attack Materia left behind by the boss. With this path cleared, you can get out of this place. Rocket Town You can spot the town from quite a distance because of the leaning rocket there. When you get there, stock up on the latest Materia weapons, etc., before heading on. Talk to the man looking at the rocket like there's no tomorrow. If you look at it with him now, he will give you the Yoshiyuki. In Disc 2 or 3 after the major event here, talk to the guy again and he will give you Cid s ultimate weapon, the Venus Gospel. Find the plane known as the Tiny Bronco. Now Shera, the Captain's assistant, will find you. She ll tell you the captain's current whereabouts, so go where she says to meet Cid, the captain. Cid had a failed launch and was never given a second chance for space. Guess whose fault it was? Go back to his house and you ll find out everything and find out what everyone came here looking for. It looks like Sephiroth is about to change continents again, so the Shinra president wants to borrow the Tiny Bronco. You ll also see a familiar face from your first visit to the Shinra tower. When he realizes who you are though, he s really gonna get on your nerves. Boss Fight: Palmer At the beginning of the fight, have Aeris use Seal Evil on him or summon Choco/Mog to paralyze him. As long as he s paralyzed, you should have no problem beating him six feet under. If you can t keep him paralyzed, you ll get to face his Mako gun, which allows him to hit you with Fire 2, Ice 2, and Bolt 2. For beating up another exec, you receive a brand new Edincoat. After the battle, the Bronco won t stop takeoff, so get ready for a wild ride! After the end of the ride, Cid joins your party and you get a new method of transportation, the Tiny Bronco! It s damaged, though, so you have to use it as a boat. From here, go collect Aeris ultimate Limit Break, Great Gospel. To do this, go back to the buggy and ride it into Costa de Sol so you can use it on the eastern continent. Find a cave other than the Mythril Mine and talk to the guy there, after saving. If you talk to him, he may give you a piece of Mythril if you have fought a number of battles so that the last two digits are the same, like 455, 833, etc. Now take the Buggy back over to the western continent and head over to the Weapon Seller east of Gongaga to continue the quest and receive the Limit Break. When you give him the Mythril, he will let you choose an item from one of the boxes. Choose the smaller box on the top floor to receive Great Gospel. At this point, you can head over to the westernmost continent(Wutai) for a very good side-quest for an ultimate Limit Break and then some. If you want info on this head over to the side-quest section. Now, on with the story. Gold Saucer and the Keystone When you get to the Gold Saucer, drop the 30,000 Gil for a lifetime pass, then head over to Battle Square and Dio s showcase. Examine the Keystone to find out what you need to do to get it from Dio. Equip Cloud properly and enter the Battle Arena. If you defeat four enemies, you ll receive a Protect Vest and the Keystone, but if you beat all the opponents, you ll also receive a Choco Feather in addition to your other prizes. Now it s time to go find the Temple of the Ancients after the Ropeway is fixed. While spending the night at Gold Saucer, depending on how you ve treated Aeris, Tifa, and Yuffie, one of them will ask you out on a date. Fool around and mess up the stage show, ride the Gondola, and have a good time. On your way back to the hotel room, you should notice something funny about that doll Cait Sith. Chase him around in your futile effort to get the Keystone back and then try to get some sleep. After the date, search the dresser in your hotel room to find an Elixir, then head downstairs to discuss what you re going to do next. Aeris is going in your party, whether you like it or not, so choose your remaining party member. Now head over south of Junon to find the Temple of the Ancients. Temple of the Ancients The temple really stands out as a Mayan sort of pyramid. Go in and find out what happened to whoever got there first. Head into the actual temple and follow the purple monks path. When you get him in a small room, save purchase, and rest. Then explore the rest of the place to find the way into the next area. In the next room, U-shaped boulders are rolling towards you, so duck under the open parts to get to the end of the passage. After you complete this little challenge, head back over to the center pool to see what happened a few minutes ago. The next area contains a giant clock. Make sure you visit rooms 4,5,7 and 8, to respectively pick up the Princess Guard, Aeris ultimate weapon, a Ribbon, one of the most useful accessories, the Trumpet Shell, and a Megalixir. After collecting all of the items, visit room number 6. The guard in here always enters a different door while you try to catch him. When you catch him, he unlocks the center door upstairs and lets you save and rest. Save, rest and optimize your equipment before heading into the new path. In this path, you'll find out most of Sephiroth's intentions and a new friend to play with. Boss Fight: Red Dragon The Red Dragon is, you guessed it, a fire-based creature, so stay away from Ifrit and Fire summons. Hit it with Bio1 or 2 to poison it, cast Barrier on your party, and Regen if you have it. Now pound away until it succumbs. For taking it down, you'll receive a Dragon Armlet. Collect the Bahamut Materia left behind by the Dragon and save again. Equip your party with Barrier, Time, Heal, but do not equip Poison, Gravity, or Earth. Now head to the exit (the only path left) and get out of there. Of course, I didn't say that it wouldn't be a little tough. Boss Fight: Demon's Gate Quickly cast Slow on the Gate to make its attacks manageable. Now cast Haste and Barrier on yourself to guard against its powerful attacks, particularly the Demon Rush and Avalanche. Make sure you have Esuna for the Petrifeye attack, or else you should have some Softs. You ll get the Gigas Armlet for beating the Gate. After the fight, let Cait Sith in and get out. After the Temple shrinks, go get it - for Sephiroth, that is. After the Materia is handed over, Cloud turns on his own team. Have a good night s sleep and a weird night s dream. Now head over to the Northern Continent to Bone Village. Bone Village, Sleeping Forest and City of the Ancients All you need to do is find the Lunar Harp, so once you find it, head into the Sleeping Forest. In the Forest, look for a materia to grab. When you grab it, you receive the Kjata Materia. In the next rocky area, pick up the Water Ring and immediately equip it on Cloud. It will be very useful soon. When you get back to the World Map, immediately head into the City of the Ancients, your last Disc 1 stop. In the city, equip Cloud with the Enemy Skill Materia and head left, grab all the items, then head right, grab all the items and get some sleep. When you are awakened, go down the center and into the big shell house. At the top, grab the Comet Materia and equip it on someone before heading down the coral path. At the end of the coral path, use the Save Point before moving on. Watch as you get manipulated by Sephiroth then watch what Sephiroth does. After he kills Aeris, he flies away for the Promised Land and leaves Jenova II for you to kill. Last Boss of the Disc: Jenova-Life Make sure Cloud has Destruct Materia equipped in case of a Reflect spell. Also, have someone hit Jenova with Quake 2 or 3, depending on which you have. Beware of the Aqualung attack, which does about 1500 damage to everyone unless you have the Water Ring equipped. When Jenova succumbs, you'll receive the Wizard Bracelet. With Aeris dead, everyone pays their last respects before they set her body to rest. Sephiroth may have killed Aeris, but he may have also made his biggest mistake.
