The country of Galbadia, ruled by President Deling, has taken acts of hostility towards neighboring countries. Soldiers have
attacked and captured the city of Dollet to gain control of their communication tower, but why?
Squall Leonheart, a very promising cadet from Balamb Garden, has been sent to Dollet for his field exam to become a member of SeeD, the elite mercenary unit from his Garden. He soon finds out that Galbadia wants the communication tower to broadcast a message to the people.
Squall soon meets the free-spirited Rinoa Heartilly at the SeeD ball. Considered a lone wolf, he finds Rinoa's atitude fascinating. But is there more to her than meets the eye?
There is no time to think about it, for Squall and his companions have been chosen to take part in the assassination of Sorceress Edea, President Deling's mysterious new advisor. She has been linked to the country's recent aggression and must be stopped.
Things are far more complex than they seem, though. A great evil is still hiding and waiting for its chance. The chance to dominate the world and its inhabitants.
