Sailor Joy

~CHARACTER INFO~
*Name: Nekomi Suzuichi ((Very) roughly, "Beautiful cat with one bell")
*Nationality: Bi-racial, raised in Japan
*Appearance: About 5'5" and of an average build, Nekomi seems to blend in well wherever she goes, however on closer inspection she does seem a bit mysterious. Her dark brown hair comes down to the small of her back, and half of it is always up in pigtails, braids, knots, or small buns. Her eyes are a bright blue-violet, set on a sweet, pale face with soft features and big dimples. When she was very young her grandmother gave her a little gold bell, and since then she has always worn it, usually on a leather choker. She dresses conservatively, always complaining about how the latest styles don't fit right and show too much, or have too many extra details that make them uncomfortable to wear. She hates shopping and for her finding an article of clothing she doesn't hate is a great achievement, and finding several over the course of a day warrants a celebration. All the clothes she buys are simple and plain, but if you look hard you can often see small details she embroidered on after she bought them. She looks like she might be pretty strong, but judging by how much she trips and knocks into things it's hard to believe she is really a Sailor Senshi.

*Personality: Nekomi seems a little anti-social, she looks and acts very uncomfortable if she's around people she doesn't know quite well, and avoids crowds like the plague. If you take the effort to get to know her and earn her trust though, she's a very warm and caring person who loves animals and always looks on the bright side of life. She is loyal and supports her friends with all her might, and won't let them talk badly about themselves for one minute, but she herself has low self-confidence, especially when it comes to her ability to fight when she is needed. Just out of high school, she works as an apprentice vet at an animal hospital, and volunteers her free time at an animal shelter. She lives alone in a nice little townhouse on the outskirts of Tokyo with lots of stray cats she has taken in, and always seems content when she retires there at the end of the day. Also... she has a pretty bad chocolate habit and is easily distracted when she's got a craving, and some types of sugar make her so giddy and hyper that she's hard to be around...
*Background story: Her mother was half American, half Canadian, and came to Japan to study at a university. During her first year, she met a young Japanese man and they fell in love.. He told her that he wanted to take care of her and have her by his side forever... a few months later they were married. Unfortunately it seems he meant that he wanted her to quit school, have his child, and spend her life taking care of the child, cleaning the house, occasionally impressing his colleagues from work. Nekomi was the only thing that kept her mother happy, her father didn't show any affection to either of them the few hours a day he wasn't asleep or working. When she was 14, her mother died, and Nekomi was devastated. A year later, her grandmother passed away, and she had to live alone with her father for the rest of her high school career. Shortly after she graduated, her father died of a heart attack, and she inherited all his money, it's helped her greatly, but she feels guilty because she doesn't miss him at all like she misses her mother and grandmother. When she was 15 and her grandmother was dieing, she told her that the bell she had given her was special... she went on and on about it, but her voice had grown so faint that Nekomi couldn't really make sense of it... she only remembers her grandmother repeating their last name- Suzuichi. Then one day when she was sixteen and walking home from school, some of her male schoolmates attacked her in a dark ally she used as a shortcut. Her grandmother's faint voice played in her head as the thugs pushed her up against a wall, she shook her head furiously causing the bell to ring out, much louder than usual. She transformed for the very first time and actually managed to knock two of the kids out, and the other ran away grabbing his head and screaming about having gone mad... She brushed herself off and gathered her thoughts, and was back to normal, but after that day she secretly practiced and learned how to control and utilize her special powers.

~SENSHI INFO~
*Transformation: *whisper* For everyone's happiness... *shout* Make up! - Swinging her head to the side with her eyes closed, her bell rings out, causing two smaller bells to appear on the sides of her upper arms, and two black leather bands attach to them. The three bells continue to jingle as she brings her hands together and fingerless black leather gloves form, each with an even smaller bell dangling from the wrist. Tiny colorful strings shoot out from the gloves and attach to her arm bands, creating a pseudo sleeve look. Then black bands form around her legs, just above the knee, and around her ankles, and simple silver shoes appear. All simultaneously form new bells that ring out, and more colorful strings connect the bands. Her seifuku appears, with a silver metal chest plate and silver fabric draping down her sides just past her waist. (She is very embarrassed that her stomach shows) Her skirt is the same silver fabric, hung loosely without pleats from a decorative metal belt. She has tiny, thin yellow bows on her chest and the back of her skirt, and a thin silver sailor collar with yellow stripes. When the transformation is complete, her eyes are a bright yellow-green, and her pigtails, though remaining in their former hairstyle, are now white with tiny strands of different colors.

*Attacks: Nekomi didn't figure out that she was meant to have special powers until she had known she could transform for quite some time. She originally thought she was just stronger when transformed, but after watching some magical girl animes she thought she'd experiment a bit. -"Inner Strength be Known!" Shouting this boosts the intended target's physical strength and defense somewhat, but more importantly lifts their spirits and gives them a greater will to go on. She rarely uses this on herself, as she finds it isn't very effective, but it can help out an ally quite a bit. -"May your spirit's light guide you..." With much concentration this can bring a physically weakened enemy to the "good side" and grant them the sense of morality and ability to think for themselves that they may have lost. Unfortunately this effect is minimal even on the most weakened deities, and therefore could never "fix" an angry God or Goddess permanently. Aside from those few powers, she can channel positive energy from the world around her to speed the healing process, but she needs to be still and have physical contact with the patient, and be in a fairly calm environment, so it's not much help during battle.

*Items: Her main item is her bell choker. It's a memento of her grandmother, a family heirloom, her transformation item, and ties together her whole seifuku-theme
