Bastet - Goddess of Joy (Egyptian)

~CHARACTER INFO~

*Appearance: Tall and sleek, she walks with a graceful sway that mimics the felines she watches over. Her head is quite feline, with tall triangular ears that point upwards, slit-pupils, and an odd feline shape to her face, yet her beauty is pleasing to the eyes of both cats and humans. Her skin is a fair and even light brown tone, although she sometimes wears different feline markings if she feels they fit her mood and match her outfit. Her hair is usually a dark color, always cut strait as was stylish during her reign during the Egyptian empire. She carries around a sistrum, an ancient percussion instrument she uses to enchant enemies with. Her chosen outfits are of ancient Egyptian and Greek styling, lavishly decorated with gold and precious stones, and usually quite skimpy. Never known for her modesty, Bast flaunts her sexuality openly through her dress and mannerisms, and her frankness can be very embarrassing to those around her. When traveling incognito, she leaves the jewels at home and dresses in classier, more modern outfits, but her skirts are still cut short, and her shirts are still low cut, it's hard not to notice her. She tends to walk around with a kitten or two, and they are content to perch nicely on her head or shoulder.

*Personality: Bastet is a decadent, spoiled deity, who loves cats above all other things. Originally she was worshipped as the protector of the Sun god, but as time went on she took on more and more new roles and her position as bodyguard fell into the background, leaving her with the hunting and dueling skills of a great cat. Starting out as a lioness, Bast evolved into a domestic cat as Egyptians became fascinated with the little mouse-catchers. Eventually housecats themselves became quite godly, and Bastet was given the body of a human like many other ancient deities had. She was a joyful goddess, and appreciated the love all the humans had for her. She blessed those who honored her and grew to be a deity of fertility, love, sex, family, children, birth, pleasure, dance, health... pretty much if it was good, it was Bast's work! She couldn't have been any happier, but eventually she was abandoned in favor of newer deities. After she faded into the shadow world, all that she loved changed. Cats went from sacred beings to signs of the "devil." Once illegal to kill, they were eventually burned by the masses, and although such practices have slowed in modern times, they are still neglected and mistreated, and many are seen as unwanted pests that are put to sleep. The pleasures Bast enjoyed in abundance were now considered "sins." She returned to this world, with no more cults dancing and offering her catnip in return for her blessings, and she snapped. The once joyful figure is now dead set on making the world like it was, the way she liked it! Her favorite method is bribery... She likes to win people over, and she loves to transform her cats into people and send them out to recruit new devotees. As a traditionally calm and loving figure, she does not enjoy all out war, and doesn't pick fights, but when she needs to hunt she isn't afraid to put her paws to use.
