Where am I?
You are at the center of a crossing, two signs absently swinging in the wind. One, the left, is covered in chipped and yellowed white paint, and the chains holding it are rusty. The word is written in a barely legible scrawl: Release. You pause a moment, wondering the significance of the word. You, after a minute or so, give up and turn to the other, the right fork. This one’s sign, too, is hung with rusty chains, but the weathered paint is dark blue – or, perhaps, faded black. It is impossible to tell. Again, the marker has just one word, but it is in an elegant, flowing script: Clutch.
What is this place?
You have entered the insane world of Dynamic. If there once were gods ruling this place, they have deserted it for a more pleasant environment. In the absence of the almighty, there are no laws. The one rule, though it is not set in stone: choose just one path, and follow it loyally until your death.the
Which path shall I choose?
I cannot tell you this, for I am just the gate keeper. I can, however, tell you a bit about each. The right lane, Release, is currently ruled by a mad empress, Rhiannon. She is driven to the brink of sanity by inner demons from long ago, but she is a fair leader – when she is in a good mood. She takes random likings to certain beings that come to her fiefdom, and her lands are well known for daredevil partying, usually encouraged by her vague mind and haphazard temperament. Not all are welcome, however, and death from raids or fights is commonplace. The other, Clutch, is generally known for it’s ironfisted governance. The dictator, Atourme, is a stormy, vicious authority with an eye for perfection. No one enters his land without acceptance from his guards, second in command, and finally himself, but there is a much lower casualty risk, and these worthy of greatness ascend quickly. His rules are tried and true, and his ruthless search for an unequaled land gives those who chose to follow him opportunities not present in the other. Choose wisely – it will be your last choice not backed by predicted death or hardship.
