Goddess, The Journey Begins…

 

 

"What have I done to warrant such punishment?" Goddess Of War asked angrily. Her eyes flashed fire as she stared at the middle-aged woman before her.

Her mentor, Wild Lady Rogue smiled sympathetically. "Do not consider it as punishment. Think of it as a journey to rest from your battles. After all, it is only for a short time."

Goddess paced the tavern floor; the unfairness of it all was overwhelming. "But I can not shirk my duties to the Legion! And Cyatri, he has been such a Great Patron. What shall I tell him?"

"Tell him what you must." Wild Lady waved her hand impatiently. "I need your assistance in this matter, regardless."

Closing her eyes, Goddess sighed heavily. Wild Lady Rogue had found Goddess as a young girl after her parents were slaughtered by Nobles. She had taken it upon herself to care for the child, and when she was of age, Wild Lady had given Goddess her first sword. She had taught her well.

If Wild Lady had not come along when she did, Goddess doubted that she would be alive today. She owed this woman her life.

"Very well, I shall go." Goddess said reluctantly, then polished off the last half of her ale. She sat her stein back on the table forcefully, causing it to bang loudly against the wooden surface.

"Wonderful! Your journey begins at dawn's first light." Wild Lady clapped her hands cheerfully.

"How long will this take?" Goddess asked.

"At this point, time is indeterminable. But, the sooner you leave, the sooner you can return to your Legion, to this Cyatri you are so fond of." Wild Lady rose from her seat and began to ascend the staircase. "Follow me, you must prepare."

Resigned, Goddess stood to follow the older woman. She would do her best to finish this task quickly. She would miss the clan and her patron severely while she was away.

In the room at the top of the staircase, Goddess smiled wistfully. She missed them already...
