The Ballad of Dragoona

The Ballad of Dragoona

Sometime ago,

On a warm spring night,

Came a woman to Dereth,

A woman, born to fight.

Fight she did,

And did it well,

Drudge, Mosswart, nor Lugian alike

Would ever live to tell.

Though she is no longer with us,

Her memory will remain,

She was one in a million,

And Dragoona was her name!

Remembering Dragoona

Her hair was the color of snow,

Her eyes, a cloudless sky,

Everywhere you looked,

You could see her passing by,

Across this vast land called Dereth,

This warrior, she did roam,

But the little town of Sawato,

Was the place that she called home.

Oft times you could hear,

The incantations of her spells,

As the magic words enchanted,

The sword she wielded well.

She was a fearsome warrior,

She fought from dusk till dawn,

And to all who loved her,

Her memory will live on.

THE ORIGIN OF DRAGON STORM

THE DRAGOONS:

In the beginning, there was Magic and Power beyond our wildest dreams. We can only imagine just how great the Dragon was. He was known to the Sho people as the Spirit of Power. A proud creature was the Dragon, but he feared the day would come when he would be forgotten. It was a dreadful thought, one that the Dragon could not abide. In fear of this outcome, the Dragon went in search of his most faithful followers determined that he would be forever remembered. Of his three most faithful servants, the Dragon cast a spell upon their eldest daughters and impregnated them. The Dragon’s power was too mighty for these young women to bear. It would take one of great faith to survive carrying and giving birth to the Dragon’s child. One of these women, Rashka, the Sorcerer’s adopted Aluvian daughter, was proven the most faithful to the Dragon Spirit. The ancestors believed that it was the strength of Rashka’s faith that saved her during the birth of her child. The dragon-child appeared to be as any other human. One was unable to tell just by looking at this white haired, blue eyed young girl that she was the daughter of the Dragon. The Dragon Spirit proclaimed that his child and each of her descendants would be known as Dragoons, and with the Dragon’s consent, Rashka named her daughter, Dragoona. The Dragon Spirit was pleased in knowing that through his child, he would be forever remembered.

DRAGOONA:

It was not long after Dragoona became a young woman that she began training in battle with her old friends Gonny Sue and Wild Lady Rogue. The Dragon’s blood was strong in her. It was unmistakable. The quickness with which she learned, the boldness with which she fought, the skill with which she used. Still, in all of my time in Dereth, I have never seen anyone learn as quickly, nor fight as skillfully as Dragoona. When she became old enough, Dragoona swore allegiance to a young man named Scorpius. He was a great Patron and Teacher. I believe that even Scorpius was amazed with Dragoona’s dexterity. The two of them became very close friends that at times they seemed inseparable. Traveling the vast lands, Dragoona hunted and destroyed almost every beast in her path. The foes that she could not kill only made her stronger, more determined. After a time, Dragoona would return to fight them. With her kind heart, Dragoona made many friends. In the town of Sawato, Dragoona met an experienced fighter named Yuen lo. It did not take long for the two of them to become very close friends. I feel that Yuen grew quite attached to Dragoona from the beginning and, wanting to make her feel comfortable in his hometown, introduced her to many of his friends. After a while, Dragoona called Sawato her home, and her family was made up of several of her newfound friends: Fullcrum, a well-known Monarch in Sawato, and his wife Beanies, Yuen lo, Zabren, Kai-Shinobi, Kap the White, Rad’agast, Ra-Tor, H’run, Savagesky, Skitzo, Mini Ze, Chai bo, Alley Cat, Echolayah, Kuechen-Scharbe, Frontman, Rach Stack, Nasfrawar, D-Tox, Pfft, Flashpoint, Celeborn, Sundew, Sun-shine, Archmage Arcana, Majestic, and Alamarason, to name a few. I know there are many, many more, but as my C.R.S. (Can’t Remember Sh*t) increases, it is difficult to remember everyone’s name.
