Like most of the six or so billion people of this planet, I like to talk.
It's not that I'm just waiting to talk, but when my chance to talk comes
along, I use it to the best of my abilities.
Which, is why when I begin to write things down, in which I have given myself freedom of content, I find myself filling page after page of things that seem to work well at the time. I made a site a few months back, that I took down because I was hardly role-playing anymore. But on that site, I wrote down a lot of rants, about role-play, people, and my own ideals. Take just one moment, and think very clearly about what I'm going to say, and see if you agree.
Things that other people do, seem stupid.
I'm an objectionist; I'm more likely to say that something is dumb right off the bat than otherwise. And until I know someone pretty well, I won't give their ideas any positive thought... It's not right of me to be like that, but it's just the way I am. This leads me though, to become active with a very select group of people, that just ooze the sort of vibes that I adore.
What am I trying to get at? Well, if you've made it this far, you're obviously semi-interested in this character, or in what I have to say. Which I'm happy for, it makes me glad that you might like what's here. If you're here just because you had to see the whole thing through, but still don't like any of it... well, I'm okay with that, because I know that some folks are just that way.
If you're thinking to yourself, that I've done nothing but steal the ideas of Hellraiser, and taken images from Darkcity, and the Hellraiser movies. Well, you'd be right actually. When I first made this character a little while ago, It was going to be a true Hellraiser Cenobite... But the character evolved a little bit here and there, until I changed what it was all together... It was grotesque in its outward appearance, much like that of the Hellraiser Cenobite... But inwardly, the character is very gentle, very reserved...
So, what I have done, is used an archetype for the physical appearance of the character, and put in a different engine under the hood. I don't like the idea of basing any characters off of movies or books, unless the characters can be very generalized... nothing specific... I play a Xenomorph, which is the Alien species from the movies; Alien, Aliens, Aliens3, and Alien Resurrection. I don't play one exactly to the letter... hissing all the time, hanging from things, trying to kill everything that moves... No, I've let the character evolve in its setting.
Rant, rant, rant... I sure do rant.
Look, I'm not stupid, and I don't buy into everything that gets put in my
lap. But on the same note, I don't write poetry, slice my arms, and listen to
Cradle of Filth.
I'm an average sort of person, with an overactive imagination, that deals with
the same sort of Alpha Male, Alpha Female problems as everyone else.
Chances are, I'm going to like you if you have some brains... But there are a few things that just make the deal go sour real quick. And they are...
Emoticons, the little faces made from characters... :o :D t.t;;;; Ugh, I feel dirty just writing that...
Stating right out, that your character is all sorts of bad-ass and powerful... It's just annoying to have to read about how your Dragon character is the best thing since sliced bread. I'd be more willing to agree to a characters power, if the character never used it unless they had to...
Going for the "I'm so Dark, that light can't escape my tortured soul" thing... Everyone and their brother has played a character that is supposed to be just that little tiny bit more evil than most... Just a wee bit darker than most... Just a wee bit more tormented than most. Hell, I'm practically doing it myself with Dominicus, but you know what? Dominicus can't walk, can't turn his head, can't use his left hand, and is dealing with demons that come to him in the form of shame... While the "Darker than Black" characters want to have their cake and eat it too...
Going for the "I'm so light and innocent, that only 0.3% of the light spectrum can be absorbed by me" thing... My views on this are just like that of its counterpart... You people that play angels, do such horrible jobs at it... Your characters have their wings when it suits them, your characters hang out in bars all the time, guzzling Rum, and screwing anything that moves... Because obviously if things get too out of control, your little Angel will just "fall from grace" and become some sort of Demonic Angel hybrid thing... I've seen two... count them, two... Angel characters, that I thought were impressive enough to be allowed to exist... and I've role-played on-line for nearly eight years. And the characters that aren't angels, but are still supposed to be pure good... they still hang out in bars, talking trash... What is the matter with you people?
Slut characters just... they just irk me so much... I'm tired of reading a profile, only to find out that after the semi-interesting setup, it's all about some smutty bisexual anthro character with giant breasts, and some sort of perfectly lithe body... I want all of you losers to go out, and get some real sex... You'll then learn that cybering is too much effort for the lack of external stimulation... Masturbating is shaking the hand of the unemployed!
There seems to be this new rule spreading around, that a defensive post has to be longer than an offensive post... When did this crap start up? I'll agree, that if you put some effort into an attack, someone puts up something like... "::dodges it::", they deserved to be destroyed painfully... But there is no way, that if some idiot posts six blocks of one attack, am I going to even bother reading it all, nor would I put up any effort to defend against it. I make an exception here, in the case of it being with a friend... Friendly combat is something that I adore, because it gives you the chance to test your skills, and try to win over the admiration of said friend... Can you make them believe that your character has what it takes to win out over their character? That's like them admitting that your child is prettier than theirs...
I can deal with four or five blocks of text as an entrance... or when you have something relevant to say that actually requires that much text... But if you're just casually stating something... please drop it down a couple notches... Role-play happens a lot faster when everyone can just speedily post a couple double-blocks...
Usage of the Role-Players Guide Book to Large Words, is old now... It was cute at one time, but now we've grown up... We're like hippies, we smoked a lot of grass back then, but now we drive Lexus'. Do not replace body, with figurine... But feel free to say radiant pools of sexual chocolate.
If you're going to lurk, don't talk.
And remember kids, though the bong is easier on the throat... the pipe works best due to its small size... Which means you won't knock it over and spill the ass-water... Joints are wasteful.
I should write an article on that. "Make Chronic-Hash for the same price as a bag of bammer!"
