Weyrling Barracks

This immense cavern is the home for weyrling pairs. A huge opening is the entrance, leading to the ground level bowl. The floor is not quite smooth, being gauged with numerous scratches and cracks, from the clumsy undergrown claws on equally clumsy dragonets. The indentations on the floor, made by millennial pressure of the growing dragons, are quite suggestive of their purpose. Most of them have furs in one corner of them, as the new riders sleep as near their lifemates as they can. A particular odour lingers in the air here, not quite pleasant.

The normal ruckus of the barracks is almost constant.

Orvieth is looking around the room curiously, A'ran asleep next to him. Orvieth's eyes linger over the female dragonets, spending more time than necessary looking over Irenyath and Alyonth. A'ran is snoring faintly, though the sounds are more than covered up by the rumbling snores of a couple of the dragons.

Cheni is curled up with Irenyath on her couch, who after a good meal is down for the count. Her tail twitches with slight irritation in her sleep and Cheni automatically reaches to scritch her along her eyeridge. The weyrling looks at Orvieth with amusement and snorts. "Men."

Orvieth lifts his head up and croons loudly to Cheni, his eyes half-closed and swirling a contemptuous blue. A'ran wakes from the croon and sits up quickly, "Hey, I thought you were asleep..." He looks over at Cheni and grins, after a pause he frowns slightly, "Why'd you wake him up?" He asks her.

Cheni frowns at A'ran after giving Orvieth a -look- as well. "He wasn't asleep, he was staring at Irenyath and I saw him. He's the one who was doing the looking." She sniffs and cuddles closer to her lifemate, almost in a protective; she can't help the way she looks, sort of way.

A'ran moves around the couch to stand in-between his lifemate and Cheni. "He says you woke him..." A'ran murmurs, then shrugs. Glancing around then sitting down and patting the brown, after a moment pause. "My apologies, Cheni..." He says, "He's not a very good liar, just I never thought he'd be lying about that...Sorry." He smiles then pats Orvieth again.

Cheni's eyes widen, and then narrow with disapproval, as she looks Orvieth's way. As she stirs, so does Irenyath who croons soothingly to her lifemate, albeit sleepily. "It's alright, Ireny, just someone calling me a liar is all."

A'ran frowns slightly at the look Cheni gives his lifemate, even if he was lying about her. "So, how's she doing?" He asks.

Cheni gets an utterly besotted look upon her face. "She is the sweetest, most special, kind, and lovely little dragon I've ever seen, thank you. And your lifemate?"

A'ran smiles broadly, "He's the most curious, inventive and saucy person I ever met. He's wonderful." He smiles, after a pause, "He never likes using human names except mine though...is that weird?"

Cheni shakes her head. "You are Orvieth's lifemate, not A'ran to Irenyath." At her name, the little green croons and rubs her eyeridge against Cheni's back. Still small enough to do much more than jostle her, the petite green looks over at the boy and dragon.

A'ran nods, grinning. "Good, I thought Orvieth was just being weird." He says, patting his lifemates side again. "So, would you still rather be at Boll?" He teases.

Cheni giggles as she rests against Irenyath or is it Irenyath resting against her? Hard to tell in the midst of tail and wings and legs and arms that are curled up on the couch. "Well, I sort of slammed that door shut now, didn't I? I can't believe I said that, about the Lord Holder, it just sort of slipped out. But then again, where else would I be, with Irenyath??"

A'ran smiles and nods, "I sort of wish I didn't have to keep Orvieth in here..." He says, "One of the older weyrling's dragon's told him about snow, and now he can't wait until he's allowed to go and play in the 'white stuff' - he even had me ask Ursa about it, didn't you darling." He smiles at Orv for a moment then looks back at Cheni. "And now I just reminded him..."

Cheni chuckles. "Irenyath is quite content to be just with me, where ever we are, right sweetie? And she can hardly make it across the floor to the feeding bin no matter make it out the doors. Poor thing would freeze out there."

A'ran smiles at Cheni and nods, glancing at Orvieth and mouthing something at him, then smiling back at Cheni. "I'm glad you impressed, Cheni." He says. He pauses, "Orvieth...tell me a time when you're -not= hungry in that day so that I can organize my life around it, would you, dear?" He stands.

Cheni laughs. "Good luck, if they aren't eating, they are itchy, if they aren't itchy they are pooping, if they aren't pooping they are asking..." She blinks, startled, and laughs. "Yes, of course, I love doing everything for you, my dear." She manages to untangle herself from Irenyath and stretches.

A'ran smiles at Cheni and nods, leaving Orvieth on the couch and walking over to the pails of meat, taking out a few bloody pieces and cutting them into smaller chunks then putting them on a dish and returning to his couch. "Here ya go," he says, plonking the dish down in front of Orvieth and grinning, "That should be enough." Orvieth croons happily and A'ran takes a piece of meat in his palm and puts it in front of the browns muzzle. "It'll be a lot easier when they learn to go between." He says. "And can hunt."

Cheni yawns as she listens to A'ran, rather snappish in her exhaustion. "Oh well, of course, it's not easy, nothing good is easy, that's life. Get over it." She grumbles as she dozes off once again.
