Character's Full Name: Ciara Teagan Arashi. Prounounced [Kee-a-ra Tee-gan A-rash-i] Etymology: “black” “poet” “storm”, reflecting her Celtic and Japanese parentage.

Do you have any Nick Name(s)?: Her few friends call her Teag or Teags. Her great- uncle has always called her Ki-Ki, which she would hate coming from any other mouth.

Age and Birthdate/Place: She just turned 23 on Feb 2. She was born in Boston, MA.

Physical (inspired by Arashi Kishuu): a small angular face with big green- purple eyes. Her face is framed by a cascade of stick-straight thick black hair that falls to her waist. Long bangs conceal a small scar on her forehead (minor accident, caused by jumping up and down on a bed and consequently hitting her head on the bedboard when she was 4). She is 5’5” and wishes that she was more muscular than she currently is.

Wardrobe (What kind of clothing does your character prefer to wear): She would prefer to wear pants, layers of clothing, and thick boots, but is often forced to wear tank tops, shorts, and flip-flops in the tropical heat. She is otherwise not picky with her wardrobe and her closet would likely be considered boring, with too many green pieces. She does, however, have a fantastic collection of boots. She often wears her heavy hair in a braid or up in a ponytail.

Personality: Reserved. She is quite a bit more vibrant and loud around younger children or those who know her well. She is fiercely loyal but fears getting too attached to people. They keep dying on her.

Likes/Dislikes/Hobbies: reading (anything), playing her cello, her dog, and practing in her uncle’s dojo. Dislikes loud noises and Carson Bay.

Married/Single/Divorced/Widow/Involved/Engaged: single

Occupation: She just graduated and has lots of part-time jobs for the time being: lab assistant in the Chemistry Annex of Carson Bay University, keeping the record books at her uncle’s dojo, and occasionally also watching the store for her uncle.

Weapon Information: Her uncle taught her ju-jitsu, aikido, ninpo and nin- jutsu. Her knowledge of modern weapons is quite limited. Her uncle’s antique weapons store contains an extensive but dusty collection which she has perused quite a lot, but it serves more as a personal museum than anything practical.

History: She was born Feb 2, 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts to Mailladh and Kichiro Arashi. Her idyllic childhood ended when her parents died in a car crash shortly after her ninth birthday. She was shuffled to a few foster homes (she doesn’t remember much of those two years - if not on purpose then by virtue of excellent psychological defense mechanisms) until distant relatives were found who would take her in.

Those relatives happened to be her great-uncle Ryota and his wife Helen, citizens of Carson Bay.

Ciara hated Carson Bay and its hot humid stickiness as soon as she set foot off the plane. But she did love her Aunt Helen and Uncle Ryota the moment they enveloped her in their arms. She grew up in their home on St. John’s Isle, a happy child but with few friends. Uninterested in shopping and debutante balls, she didn’t quite fit in with her prep school peers. Most of the girls secretly envied her beauty and the boys generally were insulted that she was not interested in flirting with them. This is not to say that she had no interest in romance; She was merely mature beyond her years and not interested in “those types of boys”, as she contemptuosly labels them.

Helen was an oncologist at Sinai hospital until her death in 1999. Following this, Ryota and Ciara, along with her dog Panda (so named for the similar markings on the mutt’s fur), left the Isle and moved into the loft above the dojo and antique weapons shop both owned and operated by Ryota. Arashi Dojo and the adjoining Arashi Antiques shop is located deep in the south part of Carson City.
