The Rules of Argonne, and MUD Information

The rules are as follows:
* Harassment of other players is rude, discourteous, and calls for torturous
punishment. Treat others as you would like them to treat you.
* Foul language is tasteless and unacceptable. If you feel the dire need to
curse, you will surely be more at home somewhere else.
* No spamming! No spamming! No spamming! No spamming!(Repeating something again and again, or being obnoxious)
* No kill-stealing. This means you cannot attack a mob (non-player character) someone else is
fighting, unless they ask you to. Also avoid attacking fleeing mobs.
* Sitting around idle with a client is frowned upon. If you're too busy to
MUD, type quit and save us memory.
* Multi-playing is permitted, but helping your own characters, by any
arrangement, is strictly forbidden.
* Cheating will NOT be tolerated. Do not accept favors from the immortals,
and if you find a bug, report it. Do not exploit bugs.
* Changes to these rules are at the discretion of the immortals, and may
occur at unsystematic times without evidence of sanity. Walk softly, and
carry a big stick.
How to MUD
Instructions for character creation are as follows:
* Log on.
* Type 'yes' or 'no' for color.
* It will ask you for your name. If you have a character, type in the
name. If you don't, type in the name
you want.
* If you have this character created already, type in your password
when it says 'Password:', and
you're on! Otherwise, it will ask you if that is the
name you want.
* If it is right, type 'yes'. Otherwise, type 'no' and type it
correctly.
* It will ask you to create a password. Don't make it too easy to
guess, and it should five letters or
more.
* It will then ask you to repeat your password. Type it once
more.
* It will give you a list of races, human, elf, dwarf, giant, half-elf,
and kender. Pick the one you want.
(See races and class page for more
information).
* It will then ask you to choose which sex you want your character to
be (male or female).
* Next, choose a class (mage, cleric, thief or warrior).
* It will then ask you for your alignment (good, neutral or evil).
Choose one.

Tracking
Do NOT add everything! I cannot stress this warning, you will have a lot of experience per level (We'll talk about experience later), and doing that will pretty much be digging your own grave.
MOBS
Mobiles, or Mobs, are also called NPC's, or non-player characters. Basically, a mob is any character not controlled by a guy sitting at a computer.
EXPERIENCE
Experience is basically how the MUD tells you when you're going to reach the next level. Let's say you start out with 1,600 experience (exp, or xp) per level, which is the average. You kill a mob that give you 200 exp. You now have 1,400 exp till next level, or 'tnl'. Once you reach zero exp, you raise one level, and your exp goes back up to 1,600. Fleeing, or running from an attacking mobile will make you lose exp, 10 to be specific. (HINT: This is not a good thing. LOSING exp means you go from 1,600 to 1,610) Also, recalling makes you lose 25 exp.
STATS
Stats means hit points (hp), mana (m), movement (mv), strength (str), wisdom (wis), intelligence (int), dexterity (dex), and constitution (con). Hit points is basically your health. You start out usually with 20 hp. Let's say something attacks you, doing a damage of 3. You have 17 hp. Once you hit zero, you die. Mana is what you use to cast a spell. Let's say a spell takes 5 mana, and you have 20. After casting the spell, you have 15 mana. That means, you can cast that spell 3 more times, or whatever other spells you like. Movement is how far you can walk. Once your movement hits zero, you are too tired to walk further, and must rest. Strenth determines how much you can carry, wisdom determines how many practice points you get per level, and intelligence determines how quickly you can learn spells. Dexterity deals with your armor class, which determines how injured you get per attack. The lower the armor class, the better (very low negative numbers is good). Constitution determines how many hit points you get for each level you make.
