After many months on the road, Tabor recieves word that a good friend
of his has died and left all he owns to Tabor. So, Tabor, Jace and
Karon head out to Buckly Village to allow Tabor to say his final
farewells and find out just what was left to him. With one large oxen
driven wagon and six string horses they arrive.

To Tabor's suprise his friend has left him not only his blacksmith
business and tool of the trade but some livestock as well as a small
plot of land and cottage.

After the three men decide to stay here for a while and take a break
from the open road. They can support themselves by Tabor's skills as
a blacksmith as well as the other two being experienced in leather
and livestock.

By the end of the first day, they have arrived and set up their
shingle declaring business is open. By day two they are busy and more
are coming. Horses to be shoed, plows and weapons as well as saddles
whips and frying pans are on order. Horses are being boarded and
cared for as well. There is nothing like being the village's only
blacksmith, the bonus is all the other services Jace and Karon add to
Tabors business making them quite in demand.

Day three see Tabor bent over working on a special order grate as
Jace pumps the bellows for him to keep the heat constant. Karon is
putting shoes on four different horse. Soon the air rings out with
the sounds of the forge hammer and laughter of the three men as they
work.

Aislyn stood up from the oven in her bakery kitchen, bending slightly
backwards to work out the kink in her lower back. The morning had
been busy, and she had slipped the last of the loaves of bread in to
bake.

She glanced out the window toward the blacksmith shop, where she saw
once again that business was brisk. Aislyn had yet to venture from
her shop to visit, but now that her own business had finally dropped
off for the day, she decided she should.

Her fingers deftly untied the apron strings behind her, the garment
tossed on the table. She was heedless of the dusting of flour
covering her face and hair. Aislyn had become quite adept at not
paying attention to herself.

Aislyn flipped the small closed sign in her shop window and briskly
walked toward the blacksmith's. She creaked open the door, nearly
jumping when a small bell tingled overhead. "I should get one of
those," she whispered, thinking about times customers had gone
untended while she was in the kitchen.

She smiled and walked over to the men who were working, clearing her
throat in a neat, ladylike manner. "Welcome to Buckley Village,
gentleman."

The open forge is attached to the shop by a small inner doorway. The heat
of the forge is too intense to close about with walls instead of open air.
Standing in the small doorway connecting the shop to the open forge Jace
stands checking an order.

When he hears the shop door open he steps back inside leaving his friends
working. "g'day Miss. Can I help you?" Jace smiles as his friends now stand
looking over his shoulder at the possible customer. Tabor holds his hammer as
Karon holds two whips he has just completed for one order.

Karon smiles. "Why thank you. Nice of you to come over and visit. I am
Karon, that is Jace and that one is called Tabor. Can we be of service Miss?"

Aislyn smiled and greeted each man separately, moving a bit closer so
she could watch them work. "I am Aislyn Buckley, my father and

next door to it."

She grinned, "I had truly only intended to come and greet you," she
began, shoving her hair from her face, setting off a cloud of flour
into the air, "But when I discovered your charming bell at the

Tabor smiles. "It is nice to meet you Aislyn. And if you need a little bell
for you door I have some already made. Let me show you."

He walks off as Jace smiles at her. "I think we are going to like living

Karon goes back to work seeing his brother Jace is keeping her company.
Tabor now returns with a small basket of various size bells with designs.
"You can pick one here if you like. Or I can make another if nothing pleases
you Aislyn." Tabor smiles softly.

Aislyn tucked an errant strand of wavy black hair behind her ear,
smiling up at Tabor. She glanced in the basket, picking up each
little bell, ringing them in the air and smiling at the delicate
sounds. Finally she came to a silver one with etching in the sides.

"I'm pleased business is going well for you," she said as she lifted

Name: Marisa Makenzie (Marisa is Latin for "Star of the Sea") for
short, her older brother Kennith call Star)
Age: 20
Apperance: Stands about 5'4 with long black hair and deep sea green
eyes.
Personality: Quiet and reserved (except around her brother of course)
Marisa tends to keep to mostly to herself. Although on occasion she
will stop in at the baker shop to talk with her one and only friend
Aislyn. Always seeking peace and serenity, Marisa can almost always be
found walking alone down by the oceanside. Like her deceased father,
she has a special love of the sea. And it reflects in the necklace
she always wears around her neck. This special necklace with a white
star shaped pendant dangling from it was given to her by her father
before he died. He said it was called the Star of the Sea and
that it had been presented to him as a special gift on his first
adventure into the sea. Although who presented him with such an
elaborate and beautiful gift remains a mystery to her.
Background Info: Not long after her and her brother were born,
Marisa's mother ran off with another man thus leaving her husband to
raise his two children alone. It was hard at first but gradually his
resturant took wing as more and more villagers and travelers moved in
and out of Buckely Village. After three long years of blood, sweat
and tears, all their hard work paid off and they were at last
financially secure. As of now though Marisa's father is dead thus
leaving her to help her brother Kennith run their father's
establishment, The Rosewater Resturant.

OOC: How's that hmm? Hope it's not too much. hehehe ;)

Tabor nods. "Just tell me what kind of pans you need and I can make them
Aislyn. Now for jewelry I do think Jace has some, but he also makes them on
order. He can make a piece like no other. You just tell him the design you
wish, bracelet, medallion, necklace and if you wish precious stones inlaid
and what metal you would like used. He can make rings and forearm bands,

Subject: Lia in the Bakery- tag anyone

Liadan came out of Hendren's odds and ends shop. She was a bit
cleaner since she had first came to Buckley village, and wasn't as
thin, but Lia didn't think about her appearance much still. Her red
hair was still just as wild and her freckles were plainly visible and
there was a smudge of grease on her nose.
She was enjoying living here and helping with the shop, most of the
people were friendly. Of course there were a few people who'd give
her a hard time, but most of them were crankpots anyways who'd give
anyone a hard time. And even the worst crankpots in Buckley were nice
compared to some places Lia had been, especially compared to the
village Lia was born in.
So of course Lia hoped that she'd be able to stay here like this, she
actually had friends and wasn't in danger of being chased out or
stoned by angry villagers. But Lia was worried that something'd go
wrong.
Anyways, Lia shook off that irritating fear as she walked down the
road. She had 'found' a few knick knacks the other day and remembered
that Aislyn had been wanting some that night Lia had 'given' her that
birdcage and Liadan hoped she'd still be interested.
Liadan let herself into the bakery. Aislyn wasn't there so she
waited. Liadan could smell something freshbaked and found some bread
in the oven. Liadan 'rescued' the loaves and helped herself to one.
Munching on the warm bread Liadan sat down.

him. "Yea fancy that." She hugged her book to her chest then cleared
her throat. "Now then if you'll excuse me I have to- Hey!" She cried
when Colin pulled the book from her hands and began to flip through
it. "How can you read this stuff Marisa, it has not one picture in
it." Marisa shook her head annoyingly at him. "Yea well some people
like to use their imaginations Colin." Colin laughed and threw the
book heedlessly over his shoulder. Marisa gasped when she saw it fall
into a small muddy puddle. When she tried to walk around him to get
though he blocked her path. "Now really Marisa you should really get
your head out of the clouds and start paying attention to more
important things like me." Marisa laughed. "Honestly Colin the day I
ever choose an arrogant self centered man like you over my books is
day I sprout wings and fly."

The Inn was exceptionally busy for the lunch crowd, and while Brighid
Blacke appreciated the extra coin it gave her. It wasn't easy for a
girl to support herself without doing the wrong thing, and she was
grateful to Aislyn's family for giving her a job and room when her
father died.

She had been angry at first for him leaving the blacksmith shop to a
man she didn't know, but as she tried to run it before Tabor arrived,
she realized no one would purchase from a female blacksmith.

Brighid slipped into the kitchen to pick up an order and Yevella, one
of the cooks called out, "Can you go next door and see if Aislyn has
more bread? We're down to one loaf."

She nodded and slipped next door. Brighid walked through the kitchen
door, not seeing Aislyn out in the shop. "Aislyn, do you have..." her
words trailed off when she found Liadan alone in the kitchen. Shyness
kicked in and Brighid lowered her eyes. "Hello, Liadan. Where's

Liadan all but fell under the table with silent laughter at "The

Her nose twitched again, if she didn't get the bread over there, Cook would be more than a little angry with her. Of course, it wouldn't be polite to just stroll out with Aislyn's bread.

Absently she tore off a piece and popped it into her mouth. She chewed thoughtfully and swallowed. "They scare me and they know it," she finally admitted.

That's why I stayed in the shop and helped Dad all the time. I didn't have to be...friendly there. But the inn customers expect it." Liadan growled about what he said and a bit of jam fell off her bread

"What a shmegegge." Liadan had picked up that word somewhere and she

Aislyn grinned, "I need some baking sheets and bread loaf pans. Hmm."
She glanced up at Tabor. "Is there some sort of way to make a round
cake pan that is easier to get the cake out of?" She paced through
the shop looking at the different weapons on the wall. "You do
fabulous work."

Tabor nods. "A round pan is no problem Aislyn. Give me two days and
they will be ready for you." He follows along as she explores and
looks things over. "We all do the work. Jace and Karon are quite

Aislyn laughed lightly, "Yes I have cakes and fruit breads which are sweet. I have pies on Saturdays and Sundays." She thought for a moment, "Tarts may go over well during the week, I'll have to try that. And I am experimenting with small handheld cakes. I love to experiment and develop new sweets and breads."

"The three of you shall do well here," Aislyn added, still looking at the variety of good. "You have something for everyone."

"Variety does indeed mean pleased customers," Aislyn agreed. "You may come anytime to the bakery. I'm always in the kitchen making something." She flushed lightly and smiled at the comment about her bread, "Thank you Tabor. My friend Liadan likes it," she laughed.

"Jace and Karon are welcome to stop by anytime as well," Aislyn added, raising her voice just a smidge so they could hear her. She knew they were listening while they worked. Aislyn's eyes widened as a sudden thought struck her, "I have bread baking in the oven!" She glanced shyly at Tabor, "Do you ever come to the inn for meals?"

Tabor smiles. "The Inn, no. But I can now." Tabor walks her to the edge of
the work area of the forge, lifts one hand kissing it lightly. "I shall see you
again lovely Aislyn."

Jace and Karon chuckle. It seems their good mate Tabor is quite smitten
indeed. But they say nothing. They are already thinking of the sweets they will be

Liadan is bored of just sitting so she snoops around
for something else to eat. Liadan comes across some
sweet rolls. She does a small victory dance only
requiring 5 or 6 backflips (Lia had to move the table
first for room) then she sits down, or tries to and
falls on the floor because she had forgotten that she
moved the table and chairs. Liadan goes to pick up the
sweet rolls, they're a little dusty but still edible.

Aislyn grinned and nodded, "Just knock on the bakery door if you come to the inn for dinner. I tend to get immersed in my baking and forget to go eat. I shall see you later, Tabor," she added, smiling brightly, her eyes sparkling. "Jace, Karon, nice to meet you and hope to see you soon!" she called out before leaving.

She walked quickly up to the bakery, relieved to see no smoke rolling from under the eaves. Aislyn hoped her loaves of bread were salvageable. A happy song escaped her as she walked.

She glanced about the kitchen, "Hullo, Liadan," she greeted her friend, closing the door behind her. Aislyn spotted the loaves cooling on the counter, "Thank you for saving my loaves of bread." Her cheeks had a pink tint and her eyes still sparkled.

"But I'd feel better... Oh where'd this come from? Hmph." Liadan
pushed a small leather wallet aside and showed Aislyn a wooden
carving of a either some lizard or a newt, it had been stained
green. "This's kinda cute, and I guess this is a miniture pitcher."
Liadan stood the small brass object upright. "Oh, and I found more

Aislyn chuckled and shook her head. She looked at the carved lizard, which was rather charming. Aislyn picked it up and examined it, then the brass object which was indeed a pitcher. "I like both of these, Lia. How much?"

Aislyn grinned, "Fair enough." She set the two decorations on the ledge above her counter. She pulled out the loaves of bread she had tucked away to raise for baking tomorrow and set them on the table. "All right, Lia. Give your hands a good wash and we're going to bake bread."

She walked over to the bucket by the door and dipped her own hands in then soaped them up and rinsed them.

Liadan nodded. She pushed up her sleeves before dunking her grubby
hands in the bucket (Lia had learned that wet sleeves aren't much

Aislyn giggled and just missed ducking from the flying water. "We need to punch down the dough like so," she made a fist and thumped into the center of the loaf. "Then roll it back together and let it set for another forty five minutes to raise until double in size. Then it will be ready to bake."

The ten balls of dough were lined up in front of them, five in front of each. With a laugh, Aislyn punched down the second loaf, watching Lia.

Brighid slipped into the kitchen of the bakery. It was finally time for her break and she usually spent it with Aislyn and Liadan, if she was there.

To her surprise, once more there was no sign of Aislyn, but Liadan appeared to be sneaking out, sweet roll in hand.

"Ahem," Brighid cleared her throat. "It's finally time for my break. Must you leave so soon?'

A groan escaped Aislyn, "Then she ran off after I left to get you. I'm sorry for wasting your time."

Sophia smiled, "No problem, Aislyn." Aislyn watched her leave then turned her attention to the loaves which were now ready to go into the oven. She slid them in, then sat down on one of the chairs to think.

Aislyn jumped from her chair and straightened her apron before going to the shop part. She smiled when she saw Tabor. "Hello, Tabor. Welcome to my bakery."

The cases in front of the bread racks showcased a variety of cakes, rolls and sweet rolls and breads. A new case stood to one side, awaiting the debut of her small handcakes she was experimenting with.

Once more, Aislyn was unaware of being covered with flour, her dark hair having come loose to hang down the front to frame her face. Her violet eyes sparkled as she walked over to Tabor.

"Ten sounds just delightful," Aislyn assured him, reluctant to leave his presence. She thought for a moment, not moving, "The cinnamon rolls are better in the morning, but when they are still warm and sticky. What about some banana nut bread and raisin bread? The raisin bread's still warm, I made a few loaves for the inn's evening meal rush along with a few extra."

She grinned sheepishly, "Do you think they'd eat my experiments and tell me what they think?" Aislyn went around the counter and pulled out a basket of small round cakes in different colors and flavors (ooc: cookie type) and showed them to Tabor.

Tabor follows her and stands on the other side of her counter now. "Ten it

help for now." He digs in his pocket for some coins. "How much?"

"Let's see, since the experiments are just that, tests, there's no charge for them," Aislyn grinned. "As for the rest..." she mentally calculated then beamed, "Consider them my way of welcoming you to the village." She thought for a moment, "And I shall make something special for our dessert for the picnic tomorrw."

Tabor lays a few coin on the counter as she wraps up his order. Taking it
he winks. "Than tomorrow at ten Aislyn. I can't wait." With that he turns on
his heels and makes his way back to his forge.

Aislyn stood by her counter, smiling and staring into space. For the first time in two years, her heart was interested in someone. A happy light settled in her eyes as she grinned. She shook her head when she spotted the coins, but put them in her money box.

Liadan cautiously opened the back door to the bakery a
little and poked her head inside.
"So... How's the bread coming?" She asked, carefully
keeping her hurt hand out of view.

Liadan carefully tucked her bruised handkerchief wrapped hand into
one of her pockets.
"Either is fine with me." Liadan shrugged and winced visibly as that
movement made her arms move which made her hand move and pressed her
knuckles against the side of her pocket, "Eating in the inn for a
change might be nice."

The wince of pain did not go unnoticed by Aislyn, but she said nothing. Aislyn slid the bolt for the front door and snuffed the candles. "Let me just clean up real quick and we can go over," Aislyn said.

She stopped in the kitchen to retrieve the loaves of bread from the oven and set them on the counter so they could cool while she changed.

Aislyn glanced in the looking glass in her bedroom and flinched. Her hair was sticking out from it's braid and she was covered with flour. She blushed at the thought of Tabor having seen her in such a state. Aislyn undid the braid and left her long black curls loose, then rinsed off with rag in her wash basin.

She pulled out the pale green dress trimmed with dark that she like so, and slipped it on, then headed back to the kitchen to meet Liadan. At the bottom of the stairs, Aislyn scooped up the large basket to carry the bread to cook in and headed into the kitchen.

Brighid returned from her walk, her shyness overwhelming her. She missed her father terribly still and her heart ached as she walked. Brighid knew she didn't belong at the inn, it wasn't her type of work.

Her feet carried her aimlessly, until she found herself in front of her former home, the blacksmith shop. With a mind of it's own, Brighid's hand slipped out and pushed against the familiar door. It swung open, but no longer with the squeak Brighid had always enjoyed. She slipped inside, reveling in the familiar sights and smells of the shop and she smiled shyly.

Jace steps into the shop from the forge area. "Yes, Miss can I help you?"
Karon peeks in as well. Tabor remains busily bending some metal to his will and
idea of how things are going to be.

Brighid blinked in surprise, having been certain they would have been at dinner. She tried to speak but no words would come forth past her lips. Finally she managed to say, "I...I'm sorry for bothering you," before hanging her head to look shyly at her feet. "I...I just wanted...I wanted to look at your wares." She peeked at him from under her lashes, wondering if this was the man her father had left her home to or one of his friends.

Jace smiles and nods. "Please help yourself, anything you are looking for in

Memories of her father at the forge tore at her heart as Brighid stood perfectly still. "Th--thank you sir," Brighid said, trying to stop herself from fleeing. Her eyes glanced nervously about, "N--no, nothing in particular that I s-seek. J--just looking around."

Brighid picked up a dagger, admiring the work which had been done to make it. "Th--this is exquisite. Th-the workmanship is fl-flawless." She cursed herself for stammering like the idiot Jeremy had told her she was once. "I..I should go and l-let you get back to work." Her eyes told of her being torn between fleeing and staying.

She gently lay the dagger back down and peeked at Jace once more. If given the choice, she would have liked to work with and for them, but only her father would let her indulge in the trade. Those days were gone and she needed to find where she belonged in life.

Jace nods. "Thank you." Karon chuckles as he returns to his work in the
forge area. Jace smiles. "Well, do feel free to come back anytime Miss. We love
visitors as well as customers." He winks at the young lady.

"Being new in these parts, never hurts to make new mates and such. Know you

Jace tilts his head. "You mean work here? I don't know, we all cook and do
those sort of chores. Comes from being single and traveling so much. As for
the shop you would have to ask Tabor about that Miss. I never heard of a woman

"That is Tabor Miss, you can talk to him about working here, he handles those
