The Orclands

The lands shown in the NE corner of the Valon map (west of the Ruling River) are known as the Orclands. The hills and mountains are home to numerous orc tribes. These are fairly unusual in that they are not as evil as some of their cousins. Though they have done their share of marauding over the millenium, it has usually been because some powerful evil has forced them to. Otherwise the orcs (or at least the richest, most powerful tribes) have found that it is profitable to trade with the more civilized lands to the south and west. Most of the orcs will not attack on sight other non-orcs, especially on the roads and openly in the cities. There is still lingering hatred of dwarves and elves though, and they shouldn't travel alone anywhere in the Orclands. The three great orc cities, Cidin-Kazar, Uriah-Kazar and Neang-Kazar, are generally fairly open to outsiders (with the exception of dwarves and elves).

There are factions among the less "civilized" orcs that all this trade with the humans is a bad thing. There are clerics and agents of the orc god Yutrus that are working to subvert the peace any chance they get.
