1) You give information
about people stealing, and what they should do depending on how the target
reacts, my advice for any REAL thief (the types who to the world looks
like the big anti-thief vigilante, and on the other side is the biggest
sob of a thief in midlight) will never risk being known as a thief, at
all.
This includes getting warranted.
You ask , how can I avoid
it? Its simple, when you pull someone from a crowd, they often times walk
off, if you set up in an area that has sparse crowds near empty areas,
you can pull someone from a crowd, wait just a little bit for them to walk
off into a deserted area, and have your way, safe and all. Sure, this might
take a bit more time, however PC constables can check the warrant list,
so if your ever warranted and unlucky, a pc constable will know you're
a thief.
That's a BAD thing.
2) Another thing... murder
of the weak... patricians... they are weak, and frail, before I was allowed
to join the thieves guild, I didn't have the cut and lift skill. So what
did I do?
I used the patience I learned
from #1 and applied it here. Its simple, find a spot where there are patricians,
and an empty place, let them walk off to it, and slaughter them, as fast
as you can. If you don't want to slaughter them (this can help prevent
a murder charge if ever caught) you can simply knock them unconscious and
take their pouch. What I used to do, was kill them, drag them off into
the next room, and dump them into a fountain that was there.
This made it so no one
could see the bodies unless they actually 'looked' into the fountain.
I also used this as a source
of 'fine clothing' from time to time.
3) Never, Ever, Ever, Ever,
Ever train from another thief. Why? Unless this person is the thief that
approached you from the guild, you risk being murdered by the guild for
it. I was sent on several tasks of murdering people when someone thought
it was a good idea to teach the skills, since death wasn't "on" back then,
we used some shackles, and locked them up deep in the portal. Aside from
that, its NEVER worth it to risk revealing your identity, sure you
might want to train, but why risk it? Save all those SP's until you get
into the guild, then be trained by a guild thief, or the trainer. If you
risk revealing yourself, and make a mistake, your not getting into the
guild anyway, and if your not in the guild, the thief skill is all but
useless to you. So my advice, don't risk it.

Just some advice for newbie thieves. Palm palm palm! Always have at least 20 skill points saved up in case you run into a trainer. I've had it happen many times where I didn't have enough sp and kicked myself after. Don't just have a weapon. Get to know it too. Just a little advice.

A little advice

Obviously you need a weapon
but a staff will not do. You need to get a serious weapon such as gladius,
whip, cestus, trident or spear. What you do is start saving up once you
get money and keep saving, because you will need it to buy a good weapon
of the class you choose. In the meantime spend all the role points you
can to get GSP's for your thief. He/she will need either 16 for basic weapon
or 19 for advanced (much more damage better mods.)
I also recommend making
a few friends with fellow thieves because one day they might be able to
train you. And always save your SP until you meet a good thief. I myself
have over 50 saved up waiting to train off me buddy. So take my advice
and go out there and get yourself a classy weapon.
If you decide not to get
a weapon you should think again. You will need it for defense and also
you need it as an alibi. When someone asks what skill you have... you can't
tell them you're a thief so you need a weapon, at least, to carry around
just in case they confront you.

If you need help completing
a job or doing something you can always ask a fellow thief. Most thieves
are very nice, deep down, and are willing to help. Just make sure not to
take advantage of their kindness because most thieves do have very good
weapons with which they can kill you in 3 hits.
Here's another little tip:
if you hang around the toga there are plenty of people always falling asleep.
Some of which have valuable things in their hands and some have valuable
stuff in their large sacks. So what you do is either slice the sack or
take the item from their hands. Make sure no one is around and you will
get off SCOTT free....

If you're being whacked to the ground by an NPC constable, and he hasn't approached you yet, just crawl away in a direction. Saves you the time of getting beat up while you stand up just to fall on your arse again.
