Mr. Anubi had lit a small religious candle now to reveal, what was to Trevor, horrid scars. He looked to the flame with some sort of desire. Of what was much beyond Trevor, but the PI couldn't help but stare in what he felt to be awe. Mr. Anubi gently raised his hand vertically, palms down in a slow and almost ceremonious fashion. Trevor felt a strange sort of non-existent breeze flow by him and the next thing he knew, the rotten wooden door had raised back into place and locked itself! "What the...." Trevor started, but Mr. Anubi had silenced him with a simple gesture of his finger to his mouth. "Mr. McNiles, I have something I want to share with you," Anubi wheezed. "I have lived a long time, and I have seen many things that I would probably never have believed had it not happened before my eyes." He said closing his eyes. Trevor felt a sudden wave of fear run over him and he made a mad dash for the old decrepit doors. When he was just close enough he dove into them which, to his surprise, failed to budge. "I was not always known as Antonio Anubi, but by a name not uttered for centuries. I was one called Disciple, while I was still but a boy, and after my dark awakening was know as the Disciple of Shadows. Mr. McNiles, I have been alive for over 300 years and haven't aged. I haven't spoken to anyone in 200 years that I didn't plan on killing, and I have only shared my secret once. I am a Tzmisce Vampire, and my time for a childe has come." "Oh Christ!" Trevor exclaimed in absolute terror, the sweat from his brow cold as ice and thick as marbles. "But why me? What makes me so damn special? I'm just a 30 year old man who never married and checks up on cheating housewives... Why me?" "Because you, my friend, show such loyalty to someone you know nothing about. My last childe proved too power hungry and had to be terminated accordingly. But you... you have potential to be a great carrier of our dark practice. Let me take you as my own..." "No... this cant be real..." Trevor said as he faded out. Trevor woke up a few hours later in the middle of the smoking remains of the church. What happened while he was out was completely beyond him, but there was no sign of Mr. An...no Disciple of Shadow. He felt fine but his head feels like he got hit by a truck, it hurts more inside than physically. "What the hell?" Trevor pops another cigarette in his mouth and lights it up. Rubbing the back of his head, he starts home to start a project of his own; the research of this supposed vampire. *Unknown location* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Serge slammed his fist down on the table causing the wooden legs to buckle under the pressure, and the two Ghouls to jump back in fright. Jacob stood and shook his head, “Now, now my dear, dear boy. Temper, Temper. You know you have to keep your cool. Other wise you will lose your head, quite literally.” Serge just grunted a response and just turned his attention back to the Ghouls who had brought him the bad news, both of which were quivering now, shaking visibly in fear. He reached over, and picked up the pistol that lay next to him. Raised it, and deposited the entire clip into the heads of the ghouls, before turning his attention back to Jacob. “You said this plan would work! You said hitting that night time delivery would give us an edge, but what do we find? WHAT DO WE FIND!? Nothing, absolutely nothing at all. Except half a ton of explosives, which take out most of the damn force.” He stood and walked over to the corpses of the two ghouls. Neither looked above the age of twenty. Then again, neither did Serge. He hit a buzzer and the side door opened revealing two guards. Who came in and removed the bodies. “What is next Sire? Sending the trash out into the wild because you hear werewolf fur can win us this war? What is next? You’re a blind old fool.” Jacob chuckled slightly and sat down in his chair at the table. He reached out and picked up a goblet that was near empty, drained the last remnants and licked his lips, before finally speaking again he checked that all the ammunition in the gun was indeed gone. “You know why it failed. You let that stupid Lasombra woman take lead of the force. She may have been….your acquaintance in this life. But you should not have trusted her with something this big. They hit it to late, or they let something slip. As those fools of Lasombra do. You know you should of led it, we Tzmisce could of torn that truck apart and gotten what we needed ourselves.” “You’re too arrogant old man, far too arrogant.” Serge sat down and removed the old sword he had stolen from the local museum, it shone and cut like new. He looked at it and sighed. It had never been like this before….he would love to be back to being a normal human sometime, but no the Camarilla had to destroy his life, he looked to Jacob, as if asking what next. “Patience my boy. A shipment will be in by train soon. And if you wish it, you may lead our force. I believe you are more than ready….what do you say?” “Let me at it….” *America*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The air was crisp and the leaves on the trees weren't very pretty this year. As she drove along down the Interstate, she saw a few trees that had the vibrant color New England was famous for, but so many of the trees just had turned an ugly brown. There was a slight breeze blowing and every so often she would notice a flurry of leaves scattering into the air, making their way to the ground. She feared that the new weather front coming through had the promise of snow. She wondered if she would be able to make her delivery before the snow threat was realized. She glanced down at the silver case that was in the seat next to her, instinctively checking to make sure nothing was amiss. She was getting close to her delivery point and she needed gas, so she headed her black BMW off the next exit, glancing in her rear view mirror to note if anyone exited with her. She thought she might "kill two birds with one stone" by stopping briefly to fill her tank and make a phone call. She pulled into the nearest station surveying the area, looking for anyone suspicious. She was always cautious, being taught by the best on what to look for and how to avoid becoming trapped or followed. She had been a special courier for several years now. Her job took her many places and her clientele were the most elite. She always came highly recommended and she was very proud of her trustworthy status. She was extremely well paid and only worked a few jobs a year. This job was to be her last for a while. She needed a break. As her car came to a stop beside the line of pumps, she opened the door and stepped outside. She slid the credit card through the scanner, then placed the cold nozzle of the pump into the opening of her tank and began filling. Her dark auburn hair blew wildly as a gust of wind tugged briefly at her clothing. After filling her car with gasoline, she placed the nozzle back into the pump and snatched her receipt before opening the car door and stepping back into its warmth. She shivered slightly as her body recovered from the chill in the air. She smoothed her hair back into place, situated her black leather skirt and jacket, then cranked her BMW and drove over to one of the parking places near the side of the lot. She pulled a cell phone out of her pocket and punched in the numbers with her thumb, then waited for someone to answer. She spoke softly and clearly to the recipient at the other end, letting them know to expect her shortly after dark. With that done, she replaced the phone into her jacket pocket and drove out of the station lot and back onto the Interstate. *Salem, Mass*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As Trevor pauses on the outer steps of the church rubbing the back of his head, he realizes his cell phone is vibrating against his chest in his coat pocket. He listens as his secretary gives him the message that was left for him. If he hurried he could catch the next flight out and be at the designated location by nightfall, but what about his research. He looked back to the church then began his walk back. Placing his cell phone back in his coat pocket and flicking his cigarette butt into the street, he decided that he could do both. That’s what Laptop’s were for! *Death Manor*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Suzanne needed Trevor’s help. Vilona had never mentioned this woman, and she knew the exact address of the old Manor. Trevor was always so clever in this kind of thing. She hoped he wouldn’t get mad when he finds out his new “client” is just his cousin. At least Vilona was safe in her new Manor. Rebuilt to look just like the old one, but this time it was in the city. She had laughed that she would hide in plain sight. The underground portions expanded several acres out under the sprawling meadow that bordered her back fences. She had quietly purchased that land too, to insure that there would be no intruding developments behind her. Suzanne knew it was time for Vilona’s visit, and she wasn’t ready. In the beginning it had been frightening, but now, now she longed for it! She rushed to the kitchen and put on the water to boil. Her sleeves rolled up to the elbow she scrubbed her hands and arms. The smell of the lavender bath bar was soothing and refreshing. As she began to rinse the lather from her arms Vilona reached in front of her and cupped the water in her hand and began to help Suzanne rinse. Suzanne inhaled sharply with a slight start, “I didn’t hear you come in!” Smiling Vilona winked at her without a word. It was time, and Vilona would not wait any longer… |
