Family History:
Son of Keat Johnsson and Madrin Peters. Keat Johnson was an average man who just wanted to provide for his family, but when his position as a fighter pilot didn't provide enough money for the high-life his parents had made him used to, he felt he was a failure to his wife and young son. He became short-tempered and fought with other members of this crew. After one altercation, he found himself released from the fleet and was forced to make a living another way. He let his rich parents support him for a while, but finally, in an effort to make his own way in life again, became involved in the black market. He had now thoroughly transformed from the man he used to be and his wife fled, taking their young son with her.
Madrin Peters was an impractical, flamboyant woman, and soon found the single life far more interesting. She had a series of short Vegas-style weddings, and finally gave up her son, blaming him for her inability to keep a marriage. Rook Johnsson then grew up in a boarding school his mother had sent him to in her last act of parental guidance. He was constantly in trouble there. He skipped up grades and then fought with boys twice his size. He was popular among the boys his own age because he was the only one who would stand up to the older boys, but they always bored him, and didn't offer much support after he skipped past their level anyway.

Pre-Starfleet History:
He engrossed himself in spacecraft warfare procedures and can quote almost any pilot's manual. He made haphazard weapons to defend himself, doing his best to make ones suggested by the hand-to-hand guide. He trained himself in survival, warfare and piloting. Meanwhile his older peers were still learning geography as he learning how to get to the places mentioned. The teachers did not like him because he was overly smart-mouthed and for the same reason he had trouble with his peers. His combination of recklessness and always looking for a fight and being accelerated grades because of his intellect proved serious. He was expelled for the last time at the age of 17. He spent a few years wandering around, amassing enough experience to be able to try for the role of fighter pilot.

Starfleet Academy:
By complete chance he found himself having the opportunity to join Star Fleet Academy. He was soon accepted, and went through the Academy. There he found that he had a superior abilities at the position of Helm. He decided then that he would pilot a starship. After graduating, he was then assigned to the USS Laffey, where he currently resides and works.
