Shaun was born into your regular marine family. His father was a marine, his mother was a marine, his brothers where marines...his whole family where marines except for his sister who was a Security officer. From a young age he had to try to prove he was better than his three older brothers. James, the oldest, was the most supportive of his efforts (Shaun was the black sheep of the family). He helped Shaun strive to become stronger, faster and better than his other siblings (not that Shaun would immediately succeed; he was five at the time). Then his sister arrived into the world, managing to overpower (or rather outsmart) her older brothers. Shaun and Lisa (his sister) became more than just brother and sister; they were best of friends. They spent most of their youth trying to make their brothers fall for their traps. James was the first to enlist in the Corps. A year later the twins Connor and Jerome would follow. Shaun was fifteen at the time and Lisa ten. For the next three years, Shaun nagged his parents to let him join the marines, but always got the same reply: he was too young.
During this awkward time of waiting in his life, Shaun discovered his father's old log entries. These kept him and his sister entertained for hours on end. For Lisa it was fun and games. For Shaun it was a time to learn. When it finally came to his turn to spread his wings, he gripped the opportunity with both hands (he was eighteen at the time). Without a second thought, he enlisted into the Marine corps. The first year aboard the USS Saratoga as Squad leader was probably the worst year in Shaun's career. The Saratoga was to rendezvous with the USS Alamo when he received word that the Alamo had been destroyed and the crew assimilated. The twins had been stationed aboard the Alamo at the time. It took Shaun a while to recover from this shock, and he did not mention it to his sister. For four years he remained aboard the Saratoga. During time, relations with Donna O'Reima developed. Nine months later, his daughter Jade was born. Unfortunately tragedy struck as Donna died immediately after childbirth, reasons unknown. Shaun swore to her on her deathbed to look after Jade until his dying day. Jade is currently 12 months old. |
