Background
Pre-Academy History:
Reiller was born the eldest of a family of six on Luna, in the city of New Berlin. Both his parents are high ranking leaders in the Marines who ran the Marine training center on Luna. From birth, he knew that one day he would be a Marine, a goal he worked hard to accomplish. Along with his regular school work, he studied everything he would need to know when he started boot camp. He even started working on preparing his body for the rough times that would be ahead. Even at a young age, he found himself helping other kids who could not defend themselves from bullies. On one such day, he got into a vicious fight with another kid who had beat up another child just to prove his dominance. Robert won the fight, and was grounded by his parents, and earned the respect of some of the older kids in his class. Education was another of his strong suits, and his grades remained the best of his class all throughout school. He won many awards for scholastic excellence, and was given the opportunity to enter the Marine Command school one year earlier than required. At the age of seventeen, he became the first of the Reiller children to start a career in the Marines.

Academy History:
From the very start, he knew he wanted to be a leader, to be in command of a crack fighting unit. He worked hard and studied every course he would need to earn his commission. He learned quickly that he had a knack for using phasers and for awhile almost entered sniper school. But his dream was still to lead, so he turned down the offer and continued with his studies. For three years he worked hard and stayed in the top three of his class. But his moment to shine came when the class had to train in a mock battle. The two top classes were pitted against each other in a battle to see who was the best of the best. Robert felt a little betrayed when the top cadet, who was fighting with Robert for the top position, put him as a squad leader and choose another cadet to be his second in command. As the battle began, Robert was ordered to lead his squad on covert operations to pick at the opposing team's flanks while the main part of the platoon attacked them head on. Robert knew this was a bad plan, and tried to get the platoon leader to see this. The cadet dismissed Robert's ideas and continued with his own. The result was the annihilation of the platoon except for Robert's squad. But just as the Red team thought that they had won, Robert led his squad in a surprise attack that won the game for the blue team. In a fit of rage, the lead cadet removed the safeties from his powered down phaser rifle and tried to kill Robert. The results were not pleasant. Although he tried to shoot Robert, he couldn't quite manage to work the rifle right, and it exploded in his hands after a power overload. He was rushed to the nearest infirmary, but escaped after surgery and was never heard from again. Despite this unpleasant set back, Robert did graduate at the top of his class and was assigned as a Platoon leader for the 158th Marine Division on Mars.

Marine History:
Robert's first tour of duty was as a platoon leader in the 158th. This unit was assigned to be the last line of defense for Earth, should an enemy attack. At first, the possible threat was the Borg, and everyone trained hard using computer simulations to help them prepare. But soon a new enemy arose, the Dominion. As information came in from ships on the front lines, the Division was ordered to prepare for a possible attack as the Dominion forces appeared to push the Starfleet forces back in the start of the war. But it seemed that Starfleet wasn't ready to give up yet, and many of the Marines were re-assigned to some of the ships to be used as boarding parties like in the times of wooden ships fighting side-to-side in the oceans of Earth. Robert was assigned to the USS Justice under the command of Admiral William Knight as the ship's Marine XO. The Justice saw many battles during the war, some of which involved the Marines in boarding parties. In one such battle, Robert lead two platoons from the Justice on a boarding party during a fight with a Dominion battleship. Both ships were at a stalemate and had knocked each others' weapons off-line. It was up to the Marines to stop the Dominion on board before they could repair the damage. In a two hour fire fight, Robert's team won the fight, but had to evacuate when the Vorta on board activated the ships self-destruct.

Aside from the many battles he participated in, Robert also found love on board the Justice, in the form of Dr. Sandra Redding, CMO. She was as beautiful as an angel and as clever as a computer, and she was also madly in love with him. They planned to get married after the war, but fate had other plans. During a surprise attack, the Justice was badly damaged and many on board killed, including Dr. Redding. With the loss of his love, Robert entered a time of deep depression, but he never let anyone know how he was feeling. The ship's councilor was worried and felt that he had buried his feelings and had allowed his normally warm and kind heart to turn cold. But once again, fate brought him together with another who was as in need as he was. During a rescue mission to the colony on Hitera 3, Robert found the colony's sole survivor, a five year old boy named Jason. Instantly his warm and kind nature returned to him after two years of not caring. It turned out that in the three weeks time it took the Justice to reach the colony, the Dominion had managed to overrun it's defenses and kill everyone there. Only Jason, who had once again disobeyed his mother and went to play in the maze of ventilations tunnels under the colony, had survived the slaughter. The two took an instant liking to one another, and Robert risked his life to save the boy, even taking a shot in the back to protect him. Robert recovered on the Justice and the two of them began to develop a relationship. Although Jason never talked, Robert always was able to understand his body language enough to help him. It became clear that the two were inseparable, and with a little help from Admiral Knight and General Holbrook, the MCO for the Justice, Robert was made the legal guardian for Jason. Shortly thereafter, Robert was offered a position as the MCO for the USS Argo in Bravo Fleet. With support from General Holbrook, he left the Justice to command his own battalion on the Argo.
