Duties: Represents the CO to the officers and crew, as well as ensuring that the orders of the CO are carried out by all hands. Ensures that all stations are operating at peak efficiency. In times of crisis, the XO may be designated as Commander Pro Tempore and is one of two officers capable of jointly removing the CO from command. At the end of each mission, determines promotions that have been warranted over that mission, along with the CO.

Background

Born January 14th, 2351 to Security Officers Lt. Ranma and Ensign Akane Saotome in Kyoto, Japan, Earth. Rei Saotome struggled through school,but excelled in creative thinking when it came to Engineering problems in Collage. Her workshop teacher encouraged her to take the Starfleet entrance exams, where she had an 88% pass mark.
2369: Rei starts at Starfleet Academy and won 3 Karate tournaments. She is on record for saying that she only took part because she was bored.
2373: Majoring in ship design,engineering and Zero Gravity Combat,she graduates second in her class,however her instructor feels she was holding back on her skills. She is calm under battle conditions, but quick to anger, which considering her expertise in Karate and aikido, can be a bad combination if you get on her bad side.
2373-2374: First assignment -CLASSIFIED-
2374-2377: Her second assignment, at her request, was on Earth so she could help with new shuttlecraft designs. LT.Cmdr Drake, in charge of designing the new shuttlecraft noticed her leadership skills, and recommended that she be given the chance to use them on a starship. Being promoted to Executive Officer on the U.S.S. Argo was not what she expected.
2377: Current Assignment Assigned as Executive Officer of U.S.S. Argo and promoted to full Lieutenant under the command of Commander Kramer. Commander Kramer is promoted to Captain while docked at Starbase 503. Shortly after Captain Kramer Promoted Rei to Lieutenant Commander, After she managed to keep the U.S.S. Argo from being destroyed by cloaked mines, despite a severe crew shortage.

Parents: LT.Ranma and Ensign Akane Saotome (Retired from Starfleet 3 Years ago), both Security Officers.

Interests

Interests and hobbies: Rei likes to read Technical books, drawing, builds scale model starships, continues to improve on her martial arts skills and likes listening to twentieth-century Japanese 'pop' music. Most often can be found in Engineering between shifts.
