My idea is that, if Voldemort cannot be killed, he can be trapped. For eternity.
Ancient civilizations trapped evil spirits in little magic wooden boxes. It's not commonly heard of in these modern times, but the idea has not left us completely. With luck, Dumbledore might have one or find one in a small, old antiques shop. I don't think Harry Potter will be strong enough to defeat Voldemort by the seventh book*, but it's not out of the question that he would succeed in trapping him forever.
There are variations of this "little wooden box" folklore legend. The object trapping an evil spirit can just as easily be: a statue, an old medalion or necklace, a magic mirror, a book, a bottle, a lamp, a small magic woven bag, the list continues....
Now, if reading the above list made you think of genies in lamps and bottles, Egiptian pyramids, ghosts, or anything along those lines, then chances are you've heard of the "little wooden box" sister legends. If you thought back to Riddle's Diary when you came to "book," then chances are you understand my prediction.
We will see if JK Rowling has come across these stories in the future, hopefully.

*I don't believe Harry will be strong enough to defeat Voldemort by the seventh book and live. This is a completely different theory, one I may post on my website in the future.
