Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has four houses,
each one named after one of the four founder:
Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helda Hufflepuff, and Salazar Slytherin.

Each founder valued something different in their students. Thus, each house is known for a particular trait.

Each house has a unique symbol, color, alternative color, and characteristics. Each house has a common room, of course, and someone to protect its common room entrance. Each house also has a resident ghost, though that might not have been planned from the beginning. Each house has someone in charge of them, now that the founders are gone, a Head of House.

Ghost(s): The Grey Lady.
Common Room Location: Ravenclaw Tower.

Badger
Hufflepuff.
Color: Yellow.
Alt. Color: Black.
Characteristic(s): Loyalty, fairness.
Ghost(s): The Fat Friar.
Common Room Location: Near the kitchens.
Entrance Guardian: N/A.
Head of House: Prof. Sprouts.

Color: Red.
Alt. Color: Gold.
Characteristic(s): Bravery, courage.
Ghost(s): Sir "Nearly Headless Nick" Nicholas.
Common Room Location: Gryffindor Tower.

Slytherin.
Color: Green.
