[I have two problems at hand at night.] [I have this reoccuring dream, and it's practically a nightmare.] [If I can't have that dream, then I can't sleep. It's a vicious circle.] [I've got to have the singlehanded STRANGEST case of insomnia in my life. It's strange.] [I don't think it's getting any better.] The tundra is cold, and the weather is agony...but still I run. I'm trying to find a strategic location for me. Know thy enemy, I say. He has no face, only a form. I find a place, and this other person approaches me. I can't see him, but his voice...his face. He's familiar. It's like I've known him forever. "I know the answer, Jon. Let me help you." "Who are you?" "Not important. The only thing that is, however, is that I've got the answers. Come with me. Let me get you out of here." "Why should I trust you, above anyone else?" "Because I know who your demon is. Your demon's been the same since day one. You almost slayed him last year. The demon is..." And then I watch him fall victim to his katana. I watch the stranger offering me assistance fall, and it scares me. His halves now slide away from one another, and the stranger stands there, a cheshire cat grin creeping over his dark face. "Stop running...now." "Why all of this? Why do you keep haunting me?" "Because I'm disappointed in you. You let me down, Jonathan. You betrayed me...everything you and I believed in." And the fight continues...this time the fists are our weapon of choice, as we drop the weapons. My enemy is stronger, this I can feel, but inside of me, I somehow know that I could beat him. It's as if I've slayed this demon before. I know my enemy...I think. He swings a left, I dodge and sweep him down. He does not stay down long, and I begin to fear the very thought of what's to happen. He knocks me off my feet, and the blood trickles down my face, a cut developing under my eye. The snow becomes more blinding, and the bitter wind stabs into my skin as this fight becomes more intense. This is my reoccuring dream. This is where it ends. He lunges at me, and knocks me off my feet, and I hit the ground with a sick thud, the life being pushed out of me. "I am very disappointed in you, Jonathan...VERY." This is only a dream, this is only a dream.... "And this is very much NOT a dream, Jonathan...trust that." Liar. "Jonathan? Jonathan? Wake up! Baby, please..." I knew it. "Huh? Yeah...Hel?" "You were having that nightmare again, honey...you were tossing and turning. I was getting scared." "It's okay, Helena...it happens. Go back to sleep...I'll be okay, and I'll be right here to protect you if you need it." [For some of you, I promise you will mark out.] [For others, you won't be familiar...but here it is. Three words which should explain just about EVERYTHING...I think.] [Rapid...Eye...Movement.] [It's the part of sleep where your eyelids flutter and you begin to experience visions...visions that some people believe can be interpreted.] [Yeah, I heard that round of applause...but it's true. I'm somewhere between reality and the dream. This usually means something, but in my current state, I haven't the foggiest.] [So when it rains, it pours...and it leads me to the next chapter - just like always.] The jungle is steaming, and the weather is agony...but still I run. I'm trying to find a strategic location for me. Know thy enemy, I say. He has no face, only a form. I find a place, and this other person approaches me. I can't see him, but his voice...his face. Let me get you out of here." "Why should I trust you, above anyone else?" "Because I know who your demon is. It's perfect sense, if you really think about it. Your demon's been the same since day one. You almost slayed him last year. The demon is..." And then I watch him fall victim to his bayonet. I watch the stranger offering me assistance fall to the muddy ground, and it scares me. His halves now slide away from one another, and the stranger stands there, a cheshire cat grin creeping over his dark face. "Stop running...now." "Why all of this? Why do you keep haunting me?" "Because I'm disappointed in you. You let me down, Jonathan. You betrayed me...everything you and I believed in." He does not stay down long, and I begin to fear the very thought of what's to happen. He knocks me off my feet, and the blood trickles down my face, a cut developing under my eye. The humidity becomes unbearable, and the mosquitos stab into my skin as this fight becomes more intense. This is my reoccuring dream. This is where it ends. He lunges at me, and knocks me off my feet, and I hit the ground with a sick thud, the life being pushed out of me. "I am very disappointed in you, Jonathan...VERY." Go back to sleep...I'll be okay, and I'll be right here to protect you if you need it." Actually...you have a phone call." "At 1 A.M.? "It's a collect call...from the east coast. I've never heard his voice before." I take the phone. What harm could it do? "Yeah, I'll accept the charges...hello?" "Hello, Jonathan." "You? I can't remember the last time your voice was even associated with me, let alone around my life...why are you calling?" "Why did you accept the charges? I think you know why I'm calling. I've been watching, Jon. I know about your dream. I know why you can't sleep. I can help." "How do I know you can help?" "Leap of faith on your part, Jonathan...a leap of faith." [Not an issue.] [Drake-ey...did you see what happened to little Devin Staddart last week?] [I won't even start with the Williams family.] [Drake...don't worry about what's going to happen between now and then. Worry about what I could do to you.] [I'm not in a good mood, Drake...and I will take it out on you.] "Fear in me so deep it gets the best of me, "(am I) Breaking Down "Fall back on me, and I’ll be the strength I need, "I’m not breaking, down "No one can see anything on the other side of me You'd better be ready...because I'm going to be your downfall, Jonathan...and you don't even know it. ![]() |
