ARCHIVED NEWS - DECEMBER 2000

28/12/00
Here I am again, to the great excitement of all. With my arrival I bring plenty of new, useless and pathetic facts and examples of my ridiculous existence. Heh.

I hope you're all having nice holidays. *looks around, looking for a meaning to his last sentence* Errr... What am I talking about. Does anyone still really thinks this moment of the year has something special? Seriously, Christmas doesn't mean anything. Come on. A holy celebration of our almighty and ever-forgiving savior's birth? Hmph, make me laugh. "Yeah, that christ stuff sucks, but the real meaning of christmas is being with the people you love and making them happy by offering them presents."

...

Wait-wait-wait-wait... You can't be serious there huh? You're kidding right? C'mon, don't take me for a jerk! Well, I'm not THAT stupid y'know. Really, what I mean is that there's no point in being forced to get our asses to visit dozens if not hundreds of shops, frenetically looking for the perfect gift for your loved ones and for those you don't-love-that-much-but-you-still-have-to-pretend-you-wish-to-make-them-happy-'cause-you-don't-want-to-create-family-conflicts-and-scandals. When I feel like making someone happy, I don't wait until christmas. All that present-shopping thing is SO artificial, nothing's true, nothing's from inside! It's all a matter of traditions and marketing. Pretending to want to make someone happy in order to be politically correct, I don't know what it's called at your place, but here it's hypocrisy. Pure and simple. *takes a deep breath as he realises his hair's getting thinner due severe grasping* Nah, seriously, christmas and the holidays, everything's a big joke. All it means is school- and work-off time to relax. Period.

What am I doing here, you ask? Why, it's absolutely normal for a lonely guy to talk to himself at 12:56 am. Particularly when he comes back from heavy Super Smash Brothers'ing. Heh. Did I ever tell you that this game's absolutely hilarious? *jiggles* Have you ever played a four-player game with 20 stock lives with four Donkey Kong characters on the Pokémon stage? Heh... Tears guaranteed. Be careful though, some lameass might begin picking you up and commiting suicide by jumping off the stage while carrying you, killing you in the process of course (nothing personal PA ;D). Then another might keep hitting the ground with the up-B move, sending everyone into a synchronized, continuous up and down flight. Very funny! Go buy or rent a N64 with four controllers and Super Smash Bros. and kidnap, chain and torture some friends to play with you. I swear such an experience is worth losing several useless friends. ;)

Oh, one last thing. I uploaded the map for my ad&d campaign. Eredros. It's in french. Don't even bother looking at it if you don't speak french. You won't understand a thing I tell ya, even the drawings are in french.

Oh, yeah, now that's the real one last single thing I want to say. *jiggles* Heheeee... weeee! If you know something about ad&d and tabletop rpgs, you MUST have a look at this!! You won't be able to stop lauging, or, at least, smiling. It's... it's... it's one of the coolest and lamest and most realistic reconstitution of an ad&d geeks game session ever!! The characters representing the geeks are chars from a ps2 game named Summoner *shrugs* Don't ask me... it's... C'mon, stop reading this shit and go have a look at it! (newbies, cluelesses and geeks, don't waste your time, you won't understand a thing. Heeeeeheheheh...) *slowly wanders away, jiggling in the darkness that swallows him*

Dare to leave a comment in The Useless Tome of Despair? *evil grin*

All right, I know you keep coming back for more, so maybe I have something else to say before I... well that's none of your business. I'm working on recreating my ad&d campaign map, the county of Eredros, for Ultima Online. I know that game's almost dead, but I don't have anything else to do. It's soooo long though. I'm trying to convert my drawn maps into uo maps, but it's gonna take me centuries to complete one of the main towns, Diceban. I've started everything from scrath. Deleted the old world and statics files and created a new, wonderful gigantic grassy plain to build my world on. *sighs* Heh, I finally completed my first building after four days of work, maybe more. According to my map, Diceban has... *looks on map* Bah, well over fifty. I guess I'll just have to trunkate (can I say that?) the world and make it smaller. *shrugs* I hate thinking about it.

Well, that's all now. I promise you won't see my face for a while if you're good.

Heh... no more college for me! Party time!!...

...

*looks around, realizing he's alone* Hmmmm... Super orgy porno party, super orgy porno party!... (those are the lyrics of a song a friend and I used to sing in the middle of the cafeteria, don't judge me wrong) First I'd need some friends. Yuk. Friends. *shivers*

Hey I decided to slow down on these stupid updates since no one's reading this bullshit anyway. If it makes you cry, you have two choices: you tell me by e-mail, or you shut he fuck up. (told with the voice of Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit, of course. I didn't say the f word, he did!) All I want to add now is that I uploaded a new old drawing (both medium and large versions). It's an elf named Baelwin I occasionally play on Dragon's Shadow. Well, at first it was an ad&d character, but we stopped playing that game two sessions after the beginning. *shrugs*

'nuff said.

Phew... What a horrible night. Hopefully, it was vanquished by the morning sun. (If you don't understeand go play Castlevania I on the NES) Seems like I just can't get some decent sleep. Anyway. Hey do you know it's -20 C here? I think I'll stay inside today. Anyway I have several things to do. So...

Did I tell you I play some guitar? I'm not very good, but I can play many popular songs that get aired on Radio X (not a reference, they're so easy). I can guess how to play some of them just by listening, but when you don't understand a thing, you need tabs. Every guitarist needs tabs. And there are plenty on the net! Two examples are OLGA (for On Line Guitar Archive) and Tab Engine. Both offer, (you guessed it) search engines that allow you to quickly find that darn song-that-you-can't-figure-out-what-that-stupid-chord-is's tablature. Tadaaa! Well I'm outta here. I should bring some new drawings soon. C ya.

That one's for you, Michelle! I owed you a drawing, didn't I? Well, here it is. There's also a larger version in my "gallery", if you're looking for more detail. She's called Minuit, and she's a lovely gypsy on the lookout for romance and adventure. Thanks for inspiring me, Michelle!

Besides, I found the best website about anime and manga quite a while ago. Here's the link: Anime Web Turnpike. I think it's the best collection of links about anything related to japanese art, from popular anime series to video games to... Well, anything.

Doh. I have to go now, my sister needs the computer again. I'll be back.

I know, I know... I was too busy yesterday... Stupid exams... *sighs* Well, maybe I forgot a little too. Anyway. Let me tell you it's hard trying to type fast using only one hand. Heh, tricky. Don't try this at home though. I'm a professional. What am I doing with the other hand, you ask? Hehehehee... that's none of your business, you sneaky rascals. I'm eating nachos, what were you expecting from me eh? Your twisted, wicked mind imagined all kind if things? I don't want to know. That's all because of one-eyed squirrels armed with a wet spaghetti. Hehe. That one's not from me, all the credit goes to the guy from the Final Fantasy Classic website. Sorry I couldn't help it. Alright! My left hand's getting dryer from my fingertip-licking, I think I've got rid of all that nasty orange powder.

Now on to the serious things! If you're into emulation, have a look at Emu Infinity. It's a decent emulation site with lots of roms from many systems. *whistles* Alright, I owe you a second one. Anyone knows the amazing strategic first-/third-person shooter Tribes? This game's simply great. I downloaded the demo a while ago, and I can't stop playing since. So, head to Planet Tribes in order to learn more about this magnificent achievement from Sierra and several other developers. I recommend it to every Quaker who's looking for a little something more (as if they'd ever get tired of Q2/Q3's senseless shooting... HA! Do what you want, but you don't know what you're mising!).

Oh, while we're at it, I have a small collection of NES, SNES, N64 and NEO-GEO roms. Mostly snes though. Be warned, though, that, if you ever download such a thing, you must delete it within 24 hours unless you own the cartridge/cd/whatever (little disclaimer thing). If you want a list, e-mail me! Don't be shy!

Did I tell you I uploaded a new drawing? It's another version of Mengir. I like it better. He looks darker. Anyway, tell me what you think! See you next time!

Phew! That's one less math exams! Alright, let's first get rid of that stupid link-o-the-day... Let's see... Oh yes! Planet Namek! This website is one of the greatest references about the great anime series Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. There are bios, lots of pics and movies and tons of info about almost anything related to DB! Useless to say that there is a huge collection of links to other good DB stuff.

I'm currently "working" on several "drawings" (NOOO!... Another " mania?), but I'm not sure if I'll ever complete on of them. I'm more sci-fi oriented lately, since I've been thinking about continuing my Alternity game. Alternity is an rpg created by Richard Baker and Bill Slavicsek, the same guys who brought the amazing Dark Sun campaign setting for ad&d. The game mechanics are very simple and universal at the same time, and it is an excellent support for any kind of sci-fi campaign, from cyber-punk to space opera, may it be realistic or super-heroic. It's really worth a look, I promise. I'd play much more if it wasn't for college homework and such. My players are constantly asking me to play, but I just don't have the time to develop and prepare my game world (sure, there are a lot of campaign settings you can buy, but I always prefer to create my own). And I have my ad&d game with its lands waiting to be explored, its mysteries solved and its villains conquered!... *sighs* You can't understand the feeling of helplessness unless you're a dm, when your game is fully ready and detailed, but no one can or wants to play it. You're so eager to show your players what you've prepared for them because you're proud of what you've done. It's there, on your sheets, in your head, but it's like it's always going to stay there. I feel no one'll ever know what I've been planning for several months (yup, months). Now that's very disappointing: the more time passes, the more my enthusiasm fades away. Heh. I guess I'm the only one who's so eager to play since no one really seems to care about it anyway. And you probably don't either, so I'll stop wasting your time. Come back when... well, when you'll want to, if you ever do.

03/12/00

Hmmm... *coughs* Wrong start. Only three days since the revelation of my revolutionary concept and I already can't fulfill your greatest expectation. I do have a good reason though. Yesterday I was too busy playing Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 64 with some friends... Heheh... Great fun... You can't blame me though! For the rare times I leave my house to go somewhere else than college or work, hey I too need a break sometimes!... So... In order to be worthy of your pardon, dear guests, I present here... *counts on fingers* ...three wonderful links for your pleasure. Alright, first of all, Final Fantasy lovers, this one's for you: Final Fantasy Classic. This website is dedicated to the first Final Fantasy ever, one of the greatest games of all times! Yea, you read me right, no ff7, ff8, or whatever. Only ff1. Very complete. Go have a look to see more! Next, for those who are interested in celts (what a crappy introduction *sighs*), you might enjoy the Encyclopedia of the Celts. I think this one's very self-explanatory, so I'll move on to the next link, which is Planescape Torment - The city of Doors. Now here's a great shockwave- or flash- enhanced (what's the difference? Or is it Shockwave Flash-enhanced? *sighs* Life's soooo complicated!) site about the great game that is, you guessed it, Planescape Torment by Black Isle. It's still interesting for the original ad&d Planescape campaign setting though. So, I guess that's all for now. I don't have much more to say, I'm too worried. I'm afraid that you misjudge me. *snif* Just kidding. I don't f*****g care about what you think. Still kidding. Alright alright I'm goin'.
