Wingrider V'lin, of brown Serenth

Valin was born the son of a bronzerider and a lower caverns woman. He was raised as a weyrbrat, though giveth the choice to apprentice if he so desired. His father D'rent hoped fervently that Valin would decline. He wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, and be a dragonrider. Luckily, Valin had the same thing in mind. He, his cousin Neron, and his closest friend, Ellasi all swore they stand together.

Valin spent many happy years as a weyrbrat, except for his father. D'rent drilled his son constantly, making Valin learn the names of all Southern;s weyrleaders and weyrwomen, and every importantr person in Pern's history. He had to know every wing formation, thread pattern, and visualization points. He hardly had any time to himself, and grew slightly resentful of his father.

When he was sixteen, he was taken to stand, along with his friends. The three friends were overexited, and Valin breezed through candidate lessons, thanks to his father. When the hatching finally came, he Impressed brown Serenth. D'rent though pleased, was dissipointed Serenth was the smallest brown in the clutch, and off colored. But D'rent decided that V'lin would just have to make up for the difference. Even after he graduated Weyrling training, D'rent continued to drill his son. V'lin stayed at Southern for N'ron and Elly, but soon, he couldn't take it anymore. When he was twenty, he put in a transfer to Inlet Cove Weyr, and was acepted.

At Inlet, V'lin was able to reivent himself. He took up harpering, and composed a mutltitude of rather bad ballads. He turned his eye to the ladies, and becamse known as quite the Romeo about the weyr. Despite the fact that he wasn't as promiscuous as he appeared, he aquired a reputation for sleeping with a female candidate. And many women claimed to have been taken to his bed, reagardless of whether they had or not, He became close friends with bronzerider N'gel, and didn't meet anyone he didn't like. Until greenrider Dreya arived at the weyr.

Dreya depsised V'lin from the moment she saw him, and he her. Which was unfortunate, because their dragons fell madly in love with eahc other. Serenth and Faylith were always together, despite the fact that their riders loathed each other. Serenth pledged his love to the green, until Nylarien and Aradith came to the weyr. V'lin fell for the beautiful greenirder, and Serenth flew her green soon afterwards. Faylith was enraged, and refused to speak to the brown. Aradith was done with him as soon as the flight was over, and Serenth found himself alone. Faylith turned her attentions to brown Ikwynth, and Aradith to bronze Boarenath. V'lin didn't let it bother him, just as he didn't let it botehr him when Nylarien wandered off to other conquests. V'lin is a good natured man, and is widely known for his very rowdy party for Majorhan. The Lord holder's son was getting maried, and V'lin managed to convince a gypsy dancer to preform for the party. It ended with Majorhan passed out, and the gypsy in V'lins bed. He often jokes he will never settle down, and rarely loses his temper or his smile.
