Wingrider N'gel of bronze Boarenath

Nugel was born to a lower caverns woman and a brownrider. He was raised in the Weyr, but was streered away from dragonriding. His mother didn't want him to Stand, as the lfie of a rider was a hard and dangerous one. Nerina tried to instill the fear of thread in Nugel, and awe and respect for the dragons and riders. But dragonriding was in his blood, and he dreamed of Standing from the day he was four turns old. He kept quiet, not telling his mother, allowing her to beleive he had no interest in Standing. When he was thirteen, he approached the Candidate Master, asking if he could stand at the next hatching. He was deemed acceptable by the Searchdragons, and was allowed to stand. He didn't tell his mother, and struggled for a way to tell ehr what he had done. But gossip spreads quickly in the lwoer caverns, and someone else already had.

Nerina was furious, and saddened that her son had gone against her wishes. But there was nothing she could do except hope that no dragons would find Nugel acceptable. She would not stand against the dragonriders. At the first hatching, Nugel was left standing. But this didn't dampen the boys dreams at all. He waited patiently till the next hatching, and then the next. Nerina prayed that after the third, if he didn't Imporess, he would give up his dream and settle into a craft. To the amazement of everyone, he Impressed bronze Boarenath. He stayed in the wery through training and a few turns after, but N'gel's relationship with his mother was never the same. And he encountered problems with a fellow rider, whom he had been a candidate and then weyrling with. B'kil came from a checkered past, and though he and N'gel were friends, there was an undercurrent of hostility between the two. After one particular incident, N'gel could take no more. He put in for a transfer to Inlet Cove, and settled into a happy life there.

He kept to himself, but befriended brownrider V'lin when he tranfserred in. The two became good friends, almost inseperable. Then a woman nearly came between them. Greenrider Nylarien was a sultry woman with a flirty green, and both Serenth and Boarenath chased her when she rose. Boarenath had yet to win a mating flight, despite his eight years. When Serenth flew Aradith, a chasm opened between V'lin and N'gel. Not long afterwards, B'kil transfered in to Inet Cove, and won the weyrwoman;s second's golds mating flight. N'gel spent a long time thinking, and has recently began to patch things up with both B'kil and V'lin.
