Weyrling K'ray of blue Cotuath

K'ray is tall and lithe, with a shock of reddish blond hair that sticks up in spkies in every which way. His eyes are a light clear blue, and often have a surprised look to them. A small scar rests above his left eye, a result from a fight with his brother.

Koray was born in a small cothold, late in his mother's life. His parent's feared he'd be feebleminded, and even though he wasn't they treated him as though he was. He was protected, and treated as though he would break at any moment. He looked up to his older brother, who was just leaving for an apprenticeship with the miner's when Koray was born. Zechen visited rarely, but Koray followed after him when he did, begging his brother's attention. When Koray turned five, Zechen gave him a small braided leather bracelet. Koray wore it always, adding too it as he grew older.

When Ko turned thirteen, his brother presented him with a firelizard egg. Ko's parents were outraged, but couldn't do anything to stop Ko from impressing the little green when she hatched.

But since Koray was the younger son, and his birth was considered a miracle due to Jemira's inability to carry children too term, Zechen came to resent his younger brother. When Koray was fourteen, he and his brother got into a simple fight, which escalated. The journeyman miner pulled a knife on his brother, and the fight resulted in a nasty cut over Koray's eye. Zechen never visited again.

Koray was discouraged from taking up a craft, despite his desire to be a miner. His parents wanted him close to home, and away from such a dangerous craft. He was also warned away from pets, but when his brother sent Ko put up with it for as long as he could, before deciding he couldn't take it anymore. Despite his attempts to prove to his parents he was a sturdy as any other boy his age, they persisted in their beliefs. By that time he was too old for an apprenticeship, and was searching desperately for a way out.

When news reached him of eggs on the sands at WhiteFalls Weyr, he asked his parents what they though of the idea. They were appalled that he could even consider of putting himself at such risk. But Ko was determined, so he packed his bags, left a note for his parents, and slipped out in the night to see if the Weyr would take him.

Koray arrived just in time. The morning after he arrived, theeggs hatched and he Impressed the lovely little blue Cotuath. Coty was a bit of a rascal, and K'ray had his hands full keeping him out of trouble. But the two make a good pair, despite being a bit on the goofy side.

Ko is very open and friendly, and loves people. He's a bit of a jokester, and always quick to try and make someone smile. He's almost always smiling, and tries to put a good face on anything. He's rather sensitive, and doesn't like rejection. He's a bit of a flirt, and considers himself quite the charmer. He has a bit of a temper, and it doesn't take much to make him angry. But his anger is rarely lasting.
