Searchrider K'veld, of blue Laranth

Dark skin and jet black hair mark K'velds gypsy heritage. He is slight of stature and slim, his brown eyes deep and soulful. He dresses in bright clothing, and keeps his long hair held back with a cloth band around his forhead.

Kheveld was born at Ista Weyr, the son of a greenrider and a brownrider. He was a very introverted boy, and spent most of his time by himself. His mother didn't have the time she thought he'd need, and fostered him with a lower caverns woman who had no children of her own . Lurende tried to get the boy to come out of his shell, and suceeded a bit. Khev had no interest in befriending the other children in the Weyr, and was content to stay close by his foster mother and help her with whatever she needed. He still had contact with both of his parents and his younger half sister. He had a close relationship with his father, despite the fact that he saw K'lengar only about once a sevenday.

As Khev grew older, he began to come out of himself a bit. He played with some of the other Weyr children, and would smile and laugh. But when he was ten, his father was killed in a Fall, and Khev retreated back into himself. Nothing Lurende did could bring the boy back. Devina took the boy back into her care, hoping she could make a difference. Kheveld would hardly talk to his mother, and often refused to leave his room. He greived for a few years, and Devina wondered if the boy would ever recover. She decided a change of scenery was in need, and transfred to Inlet Cove Weyr. The change seemed to do good, for Khev slowly came out of hismelf. He was content, if not happy, and after two turns at the Weyr was aproached as a candidate.

Khev stood at Fiannath's clucth, and Impressed blue Laranth. The two had the deepest bond out of his weyrling group. Khev hardly spoke to anyone save for his dragon, and though he had friends, none were close. K'veld was active in weyrling training and classes, but in a quiet way. When Laranth was nearly a year, it became apparent he had search dragon potential. The pair began taking extra classes to develop the blue's talents. Khev began coming out of himself near the end of weyrling training. He is a good natured young man, if a bit nervous around women. The only female that ever showed an interest was a gypsy girl of rather negociable affection. But Khev has Laranth, and has no need of physical relationships.
