Cho's Teaching Room

My name is Cho and I have been role-playing since the summer of 1999, when a friend invited me to join her Sailor Moon RPG. I started out with a character I had made myself and called her, ironically, Cho (the name is Korean and means butterfly.) I still have that char today in my friends rpg, but I also adopted it as my mun name. After about a year of role-playing in various anime rpgs through egroups (now yahoogroups) I discovered Blackberry Creek through the Kids Only screen on AOL. First I only wrote stories there, but everyone hyped up "RPing" so much I decided I had to get in on it too. My first post on BCreek's Gathering of Wolves board was horrible, and thankfully, ignored completely. I tried again later, with two wolves: A brother and sister named Gawain and Nimue. I received a reply for each of them the next day and was totally overjoyed. From there on I expanded to having a char on everyboard, but found it too demanding, so I cut down to only two boards that I posted on: Gathering of Wolves and Castle Treline. When Blackberry Creek announced its closure in March of 2001, I was so horribley sad that I didn't know what I'd do with all it had given me: friends, entertainment, a place to express myself. Luckily, myself and a few other of my newfound friends slipped past the boardcheckers with our e-mail addresses and contacted each other, later forming the mailing list "Salvaged Creekies," a group composed of most of the major writers at Storytellers on BCreek. Several months after Salvaged Creekies was formed, I received a mysterious instant message from the screenname "HIGHLIGHTER22". It turned out to be YoYo, an old mun from BCreek! I still have no idea how she found me, but I am very glad. A whole new world of old Blackberry Creekies that had been 'salvaged' opened up and I had more role-playing than I could handle! But, like before, I've learned to cut down on my 'desires' and have only thirty characters' compared to the fifty of some. A few of these are from my old anime rpgs, but most are spaced neatly between all the Creekie sites I have discovered or been shown to. I even created my own page Cho's RPing Realm , which is quite meek next to all the humungous RPing Enterprises some muns have constructed.

When I was asked by YoYo if I wanted to help teach 'newbies' how to RP better as a one-on-one tutor, I quickly accepted. I wish that I had had someone to show me the ropes when I was new to role-playing. Instead of picking stuff up everywhere, I think that being a teacher will help whomever my student turns out to be. All I expect of my pupil is that they be honest, try their best, but most importantly, proofread and edit everything. In all my years of experience, taking the time to reread what you've said is never a waste.
