Walls
Walls

Somewhere in the darkest depths
Of my barricaded heart
A single soft spot still exists,
To cradle there my love and trust
Of friends and those who love me.
But every now and then,
Someone stabs me in the back.
Those stony walls advance then,
To lock away the pain.
Its not by choice I do this,
But a necessary thing.
For friendships are so fickle,
And alliances always change.
Maybe those walls aren't so bad,
If they save me from the pain.
