There are in reality
two rooms of Spirit and Time. They are both rooms on Kami's
lookout high above the Earth. The one that exists only in the
Dragonball anime
contains a gigantic pendulum that swings across the floor over
a circle with
ancient symbols. When someone stands in the circle, their spirit
is transported
to another point it the past. They create "spirit bodies"
so that if they
are killed in the past, their true bodies are not injured. Goku,
Yamcha, Krillen,
Chaotzu, and Tien all used the room to train at some point. This
room was destroyed
when Buu destroyed Kami's lookout.
The room of spirit and time that exists in both the book series
and the show is
significantly different. When you enter, you find yourself standing
in the doorway
of a small building surrounded by hourglasses. You are on a small
planet about 3
times larger than King Kai's planet. You are probably thinking
"Uh, so?" The point
is that inside the room time flows differently. During one day
in the outside world,
one year passes for those inside. Strangely enough, no one seems
to age as a result
of being inside. Anyway, this allows the Z fighters to train in
much less time than
would normally be required. This room was destroyed when Piccolo
destroyed the
building that is used to exit. He was trying to trap Buu inside
along with
Gotenks and himself, but everyone escaped when they found out
that a really strong
burst of energy could blow a hole through to the outside world.
