Hildegarne is the evil monster that plagues the planet of Konack, the home of Tapion and his little brother Minosha. The black magicians, along with Hoi, of the South Galaxy cast a magical spell on a huge, monstrous statue. Also with the statue's transformation, two flutes and a sword were given the capability to control the monster by the gods of the Galaxy. The statue was brought to life and Hildegarne was unleashed upon the inhabitants of the planet. As Hildegarne was unleashed and wreaked havoc on the planet, the inhabitants found that they could control the monster with the flutes. Tapion and his little brother Minosha were given the job of playing the flutes. This froze the creature and one of the planet's priests used the sword to cut Hildegarne in half. One of the two halves were then sealed within Tapion and the other was sealed within Minosha. The two brothers were then sealed away within separate music boxes and sent to other planets, to ensure that the black magicians could never again resurrect Hidegarne.

Hoi, one of the black magicians, convinces Gohan and the Z fighters to use Shenron to release Tapion. Unfortunately, when Tapion was released, the half of Hildegarne that was sealed within him was also set free. Soon after Tapion's release, the bottom half of Hildegarne appears in the city and begins to destroy it. Gohan attempts to stop it with a massive blast, but as the smoke clears, Hidegarne has disappears and Gohan hears Tapion's melody and sees him walk away.

Later, as Tapion sleeps, his flute falls from his hands and the upper part of Tapion appears and attacks him. Luckily, Tapion is able to recover the flute and plays the melody that once again seals the horrible monster within him. Unfortunately, he can not sleep or the monster will escape. He tells Bulma of his problem and she attempts to create a room that will allow Tapion to sleep and keep the monster sealed within him.

The small room that Bulma creates does not work and as Tapion sleeps, the half of Hildegarne that is sealed within him escapes and joins with the other half. The end result is the totally resurrected form of Hildegarne. Immediately, the monster begins to terrorize the city and the Z fighters attempt to stop him.

Gohan and Videl fall, along with Vegeta during the battle. Trunks and Goten fuse and form Gotenks in his SSJ3 form. They blast Hildegerne and when the smoke clears, Hildegarne is covered in a hard metal-like shell. Gotenks, believing that he has won, attempts to destroy him with a final blast.

As Gotenks attacks the shell of Hildegarne cracks and his final form emerges from the cocoon. This form is insect-like and extremely powerful. All the z fighters fall before this form, with Goku transforming into SSJ3 and attacking with his Dragon Fist attack. This attack ends the Hildegarne threat and Tapion gives his sword to Trunks and returns to his planet.
