Xena could be considered a 'half-breed', for she is half-human and half-reploid. During the end of the Omega Maverick War nearing the beginning of the Fifth Maverick War, Xena was critically injured during a Maverick attack in her hometown. The next thing Xena remembers was being in a Maverick scientist's laboratory where she was modified and was becoming a reploid to serve Sigma. Before she was 'reprogrammed' she was rescued by a Hunter unit, led by Zero. She has stayed with the Hunters and has improved her fighting abilities.

Xena shows both human and reploid characteristics. She still needs to eat, drink, breath and rest like a human, but her speed, strength and abilities are more reploid. She has been 'cursed' with the 'immortal' life that reploids have.

Her 'reploid-side' shows that she was to be a dragonoid reploid, and nearly has all the features of a dragon, including the temper. "If I hear any 'Warrior Princess' jokes and I'll rip your face off."

She can be seen making fun of the hunters from time to time, but can be a fierce fighter when the time arises. Some believe that she has a crush on Zero, and through the Limited Maverick War, this seems more truthful than rumor.
