HISTORY: Lane Quintana was born in an impoverished village outside San Juan, Puerto Rico. Because her family was so poor, and there were no jobs to be had, Lane was forced into a life of petty crimes in order to put food on the family table. Using her powers of wind to create diversions, she started to partake in nickel-and-dime robberies. Lane's unique abilities led her to take a job working for some corrupt members of a Central American government. The money made her decision easy but the mission didn't go as planned. Morgan Stryker was sent in to infiltrate the mission, and Lane ended up behind bars for the first time. After hearing Lane's reason for being involved in the operation, Stryker felt guilty for putting the young girl in jail. He helped reduce her charges and got her out on bail with the agreement that he would legally employ her. Now under Stryker's supervision, Lane has adopted the code name of "Tempest" and has become a member of the mercenary team known as Codename: Strykeforce. She is forever grateful to Stryker for the opportunity to support her family with a clear conscience. Stryker continues to be amazed at Tempest's ability to learn and adapt to any situation quickly. Noted for her commitment and determination to succeed, Tempest has proven to be an extremely valuable addition to the team. Powers and abilities: Tempest has the mutant ability to summon devastating wind forces at will. The wind gusts she can generate are stronger than anything Mother Nature could ever muster up. With her winds delivering over 25,000 psi of pressure, Tempest can cut a hole through a 60-ton tank, or form a wall of wind strong enough to deflect anything from a speeding bullet to an atomic explosion. Tempest is also capable of creating a wind vortex beneath her body, enabling her to fly at speeds in excess of 1,200 M.P.H.
