This guide is most generally written for the typical raid attendee. The purpose is to give you all the info you need to participate and contribute to a successful and cohesive raid and to let you know what to expect. The raid can most generally be broken into the following stages:

*****GENERAL NOTE ON PAYING ATTENTION AND MY APPROACH ON RAID DAY!!!!*****
Some people have suggested that I throw people out who don't pay attention or complained about some people.. I will emphasize that paying attention is important, but I must note right here that I will not micro-manage whether or not people pay attention or take time to throw someone out/enforce their departure. I recognize that some people might find things slow moving, and all I'm going to do about it is do MY best to move through my role as efficiently as I can. If you find that someone is unattentive, please feel free to speak to them yourselves, but to be honest I don't pay full attention to /ooc or /shout other than myself, and even tells aren't always fully kept on. Some people may feel the need to relieve the tension or to pass time by entertaining themselves.. That's fine. Some people might not have taken the time to find out what they should do ahead of time.. In these cases, I think the best thing to happen is for someone of their class that does know what's going on should speak in tells to the individual in question. Thank you anyone who can help in keeping people focussed.. Believe me, I'm really too busy attending to matters related to the raid as a whole to deal with anyone on an individual basis. And if you send a tell to me and get no response, just wait a minute or two or resend it (once please, if I don't respond it's because I'm working on something else, but sometimes when I'm done with the something else I forget to get back to you..)

This guide's information will be arranged by stage. Where appropriate, I will give particulars of the role of key classes to that particular stage. Where a class is not gone over, this could mean several things: Basically either I don't know or it's not critical. For example, on the charge I will point out that bards should sing resist songs with instruments but I won't point out that monks should attack. I will point out something for most classes on the charge, although admittedly I don't have a damn clue if there is anything in particular that an SK could do.

I'm totally open to suggestions. E-mail me at klopfew@aam.com with any comments questions or concerns.

At the time of this revision, I've said several times over that I'm done leading these dragon raids, yet somehow I keep coming back. Honestly I would like there to always be successful raids, but I would prefer that these happenned under somebody else. Some who have learned from me have done so, but some of these have retired as well.. Macchan and Phread have done well but retired. Some, such as Sithas, Blackfang and Aervothlin are working to establish themselves.

Where I started was back in June, in the interest of pursuing scales for my wife's epic (bard), I set out to slay Lady Vox. I've long since completed that mission. Along the way it seems I established quite a record.. I'll try to piece it together below:

6/16 Strange Brew hosted the first Vox raid I would attend, Vox did not fall.
6/17 I decided to lead an attempt the following day, I did not succeed.
6/23 Lady Vox killed on second attempt
6/30 Lady Vox killed by Crystal Oracle on second attempt, I attended as guest

The rest of these are all raids I led, all successful:

7/14 Lady Vox
7/20 Lord Nagafen
7/23 Lady Vox
7/25 Lord Nagafen
7/28 Lady Vox
8/03 Lord Nagafen
8/11 Lady Vox
8/22 Lord Nagafen
8/23 Lord Nagafen
10/5 Lord Nagafen
10/19 Lord Nagafen
10/19 Lady Vox

And so, without further adieu, I will begin discussing my strategy... Some sections I have developed or detailed myself, some sections will largely be cut and paste from guides in reference above.
