              Monks

              Dotted across the countryside are monasteries-small, walled cloisters inhabited by monks. These monks pursue personal perfection through action as well as comtemplation. They train themselves to be versatile warriors skilled at fighting without weapons or armor. Monks approach adventures as if they were personal tests. While not prone to showing off, monks are willing to try their skills against whatever obstacles confront them. Monks are not greedy for material wealth, but they eagerly seek that which can help them perfect their art.

              Monks belong to Orders devouted in large part to the study of fighting styles, especially barehanded martial arts. These monks live and study in monasteries devoted to their Orders.

              These monks do not confine their war-training to the monasteries, however. They travel the wide world in order to learn the secrets of life, the world, and the gods. As an Order, they sometimes volunteer their services to rulers in times of war, and act as elite forces against the enemy.

              Monks cannot wear any sort of armor. Additionally, monks may never own more things (weapons, treasure, money, etc) then can be carried on their back.

              Unarmed Combat

              The following are examples of some of the maneuvers used in Unarmed Combat. Many other maneuvers are possible.

              Body-Punch: This is a straight-forward punch into the target's stomach or chest.

              Elbow Shot: With this maneuver, the attacker plants their elbow into the target's chest, side, or stomach.

              Low Kick: The attacker kicks the target in the leg or thigh.

              Head Bash: The attacker slams their forehead into the target's face.

              Head Punch: This is a good, strong blow with the fist to the enemy's head, particularly the jaw.

              High Kick: The attacker kicks the target in the upper body somewhere: stomach, chest, back, or shoulder.

              Knee-Shot: The attacker brings their knee up into the target's stomach or thigh.

              Side Kick: With this maneuver, the attacker has time to prepare and launch a very powerful sideways kick (which may be at the end of a cinematic leap).

              Vitals-Kick: The attacker kicks their target at some vulnerable point: groin, kidney, neck, solar plexus, etc.

              Vitals-Punch: The attacker puts their fist into one of the vulnerable points mentioned immediately above.
