Annual Sports Day

by James Low

Every year, my school will have its Annual Sports Day at 66, Jalan Midah 6, a very modern stadium. Due to its increasing school funds, thanks to Shaoling Temple, my school had decided to have is Sports Day at Pangkor Island. All the students and teachers of my school, SMK Bandar Nam King went to the airport in bullet-proof Proton Sagas.

In order to make this Annual Sports Day a success, those involved had practised and rehearsed a lot of times. They sacrificed their free time to prepare for this annual event. The Shaolin monks practised day and night sacrificing their precious time watching ASTRO. The students involved in marching events had practised everyday after school. All of them gave cooperation to the teachers in charge.

On the day of our Annual Sports Day, the media boys in blue pants went to the Pangkor Stadium earlier to set up the microphones and the P/A system. The sports day started off with a great success. First, students entered the stadium with good discipline and systematic. This was followed on by the arrival of VIP's, the head of Shaolin, the head of ASTRO and Pangkor's MP. After that, the harkworking students representing their own house marched around the stadium and paid salute to the special guests. The ceremony was continued by speeches from my school's headmaster and the three special guests. Right after that, The Sports Day was officially started by Shaolin monks knocking their heads on the big block-sized bell.

After that, sports events were carried out. The students showed great spirit. The participants who won their respective events were very happy after their had preparation. The atheletes who lost were disappointed but hey showed great sportmanship. The congratulated the winners.

After all the events, there was a football match between the school team and the Pangkor team. This was done to increase the spirit of football and to expose the game of football to other students. This event was a success as the crowd shoed interest by cheering. My school team wore their own jersey while the Pangkor team wore their ASTRO sponsored jersey. Fart Simpson scored a hattrick to trash my school's school boys. The final score was 3-0 to Pangkor team's favour. This was because they are professionals. The match ended with everyone shaking hands.

Later on, the closing ceremony time arrived. Ten Shaolin monks jumped from an aeroplane and opened their parachutes. They performed their martial arts and they brought down the school flag which meant the ceremony was finished. This year's sports day was a grand success and should be continued like this in the future.
