Field Report for Fort Tethana immediate area

I have now been to Fort Tethana, and can tell you that they have significantly increased the monster strength and variety in the area. As many know I have been hunting the the Teth area for many months, and have always found it to be a challenge but workable. After my latest encounter I may have to rethink that.

I came into the portal spot and immediately came face to face with a Diamond Lord (lvl330). Thank goodness it was in the little hut. No more Gold wasps to greet the incoming travellers. (Sorry Tuatha) Virindi servants have been replaced by Masters so there are now tusker guards in the portal area possible.

I moved down to the Mage's rock and found that my friendly granite golem still was there to meet me. The rats are still inside of the rock and their chittering was strangely comforting. I looked to the east and a group of high level Banderlings were standing around their campfire. (Evil is now near the rock Ciao) We are talking of manglers enforcers and thrashers. To the south was the normal sight of a Teth shadow spawn. To the west the normal group of tumeroks had been replaced by 3 Malus shreth.

Well things certainly have changed in the more difficult direction. I needed to make it to the Fort so I hurried along only to be hit by a coordinated vuln attack by Banderlings that popped out of nowhere. As that was happening I was running for all I was worth when an Olthoi Noble pierced me from behind. An OLTHOI Noble on the plains of Teth! Not only that but there was two of them.

I was still shaking my head about that discovery back at the lifestone. I rebuffed and headed back for my body. I waved to the diamond Lord and then to the new arrival a diamond golem. As I ran past the virindi master I concentrated on my death location. I made it to my body and quickly retrieved my items. As I came into the entrance of Teth I noticed that an ascendant drudge was trapped in one of the towers. Never having seen one I looked at it and noted it was level 250. I was inside when a person came screaming in with an Olthoi Noble in hot pursuit. Teth had become even more dangerous it seems. The Noble was dispatched and all three defenders of Teth. We then moved to the walls to survey the terrain.

Suddenly, a large gout of acid came at the wall. It was courtesy of a dark revenant. They have never been seen in Teth to my knowledge. Even when the Bone knights and Lords laid seige there were no revenants. Ahh those Virindi have really upped the ante.

I must say in my brief tour of the immediate area around Teth they have seriously upgraded what you will face and have made it a hard call as to when to move a character out for training. There is a very small population of fellow Isparians to help you, so come to Teth with a group or have support able to help in the inevitable body recovery. On the bright side this looks to be an interesting place to take a group of mid levels to and gain good xp while having fun.

I can only imagine what the Obsidian Plains looks like now if Teth got this serious of an upgrade.

Field Report for Qalaba'r

In keeping with Stormson's excellent review of the areas around Lin and Fort Tethana, I have conducted a preliminary survey of the mountains near Qalaba'r. The results are not surprising now that I have read what Stormson reported.

As seems to be the trend, the area has become far more deadly recently. Here's the general breakdown of what I have seen:

Gigas Lugian groups, numbering between 2-6 with Lithos escorts. This type of spawn has replaced the Amploth and Laigus spawns common to the area.

Dark Drudges. Raveners and Stalkers abound now, replacing in nearly equal measure the usual Mattekar spawns. Anyone familiar with this area will remember that there used to be numerous spawns of Mattekar. Now they are Ravs and Stalkers. Additionally, the number of Drudge Lurkers has gone up, but not a lot. And they're easy to kill. :)

Armoredillos are infrequent now, where they used to be plentiful.

Dire Mattekar and Dread Mattekar. I ran into a large number of these last night, grouped near spawns of Great Mattekar. Mattekar Armguards/Claws are about to go way down in value...

Shadows. Lots of Shadows. Remember the typical Fort Teth spawns? Now they've migrated to the Linvaks. Large spawns generally composed of 2 Umbris, 1 Panumbris, 1 Lieutenant, and 2 Shadows. Also, single Shadows and single LT's are out there waiting for the unwary traveler. Remember kids, these guys don't show up on radar most of the time until it's too late.

Golems. Iron Golems in place of Limestones. Copper Golems in place of Sandstones. If you're Mote Hunting, you may want to come out here and seek your prize.

Linvak Ursuins are out in force. Expect two in a spawn.

NOTE: From what I've seen, when you attack one monster it will generally attract all others of its kind to you. This is somewhat new, since I had a Dread Mattekar come after me from off my radar when I attacked his brother. In my experience it is unusual for a creature to come from so far away.

And now for the Good News: I ran all over the place last night, and I feel pretty confident in saying that there are no Banderlings of any real size (Berserkers, Strikers, etc.). I didn't see even one Virindi or Tusker. No Zefirs. No Dolls, Grievvers, Monouga, Mosswarts, Mu-Miyah, Niffis, Tumeroks, Undead, Wasps or Wisps. And, very comfortingly, NO OLTHOI.

Have fun, I'll get back to you with a report on the Obsidian Plains as soon as I get a look around out there.

Field Report for Obsidian Plains around the Tumideon Fortress

Well, business certainly has picked up out there. To make this easy, I'll list generally what USED to be there, then list what is there NOW...
There used to be:

Virindi Servants, Puppets, Masters and very rarely Executors.
Tusker Guards and Slaves. Lots of them.
Iron Golems, Obsidian Golems, and the occasional Diamond.
Altered Drudges, Ravs and Stalkers, Lurkers.
Grievvers, up to and including Destroyers.
Shadow Family Spawns, 2 Umbris, 1 Pan, 1 LT, 2 Shadows.
That was pretty much it unless I missed something, in which case let me know.
What's there now:

Olthoi Soldiers (level 65). I saw 3 or 4, didn't see any Nobles in the immediate area.
Augmented Tumeroks, (level 96). These boys are carrying Overlord's Swords, how appropriate.
Magma Golems (level 101) in groups of three.
Banderling Mangler (level ??) solo. I only saw one of these guys.
Fire Wisp (level 126) solo. I saw several of these, and killed one just to see how they were. Not too hard, even with the wrong type of arrow. This one cast several Lightning Bolts at me (lol).
Diamond Golems (level 103), in packs of TWO now.
Augmented Drudges and Altered Drudges are increased.
Bane Grievvers (didn't see the level), hanging out with Destroyers.
Ascendant Drudges (level 235!!) in Three-Packs.
Virindi Observer (level 100), solo. They are easy to kill and use Lightning and Fire spells.
Virindi Executor, only saw one.
The area is normally pretty busy, with between 5 and 8 people normally hunting around whenever I go there. This time there were only two other people near the exit portal, and I happened to stumble across Grandpa while I was out running around several clicks south. The increased danger level of the area is definitely noticable, so be careful out there.

That's all I have for you right now, but stay tuned for more field reports as I get time to explore.

And for you folks who hunt in other places, please report your findings on this board, I'm sure we can all benefit from your information. :)

Field Report for Chalcimere Fortress

Before -

Tumeroks of all shapes and sizes
Drudges (up to Raveners)
Shadow Spawns (infrequent)
Mid Level Bandy Spawns
Banderling Enforcer/Thrasher spawns (infrequent)
Iron, Copper, Granite, Obsid Golems.

NO Wisps, undead, diamond golems, high level drudges, Aerlinthe Bandies, etc.

After -

Just about anything goes. What I've seen:
Extas Lugian Spawn (2 + 1 Tiatus)
3 Tiatus Spawn
Banderling Mauler/Mangler (Aerlinthe Bandies)
Solo Banderling Enforcers
Augmented/Altered Drudges
Ascendant Drudges (Correct level is 245, unless it has leveled)
Odd Shadow Spawns (Solo Pan? Pan/Pan Lt?)
Skeleton Bone Knights
I hear there are more.

On a side note, those high level drudges are extremely tough. I can take down a Diamond Golem of higher level, or even a Coral Golem much easier than these Drudges. They are level 245, level quickly like an Executor, have a BASE Magic D of 364. From experience, their Missile D is most likely higher. The good thing is they have a low amount of health, I think around 300 (though they regain health like Russel Crowe in Virtuosity).

Field Report for Lin Area

Seeing as how all the more uber types are reporting on the more uber areas, I guess the less uber types should report the less uber areas.

I hunt around Lin like crazy, with 5 out of 8 playable guys (one too high, one retired, one too low), so I know this place. The spawn locations haven't changed at all, and any special spawns (Fritz the Zombie, the Spire Golems/Undead) are still the same as well. However, like all other places in Dereth, this place has been beefed.

Old spawn types:

Bandie Scouts, Raiders, Guards, Ravers, in groups of 5-6.
Creeper and Feeder Mosswarts, groups of 6-7.
Mudlurk, Barker, and Shaman Mosswarts, groups of 5-7.
Shadows, Shadow Children, and Shadow LTs, groups of 3.
Wood and Limestone Golems, groups of 2.
Linvak Ursuin, groups of 1.
Azure Gromnies, groups of 2.
Red, Green, and Blue Wasps, groups of 3.
Laigus, Amploth, Obeloth Lugians, groups of 2.
Jibrit, Kilif, and Zofrit Zefir, groups of 3.
Reedshark Pups and Adults, groups of 2-3.
Carrion, Blood, Hunter, and Vorous Shreth, groups of 2-3.
VERY rare, Copper or Iron golem in the hills, groups of 1.

New spawn types:

Haven't seen any bandies.
Creeper and Feeders are much more rare, sometimes solo or in pairs. The larger groups, Mudlurks etc. now are sometimes led by Chiefs (I think that's what it was called), level 20 or so, and they each sometimes appear solo.
Shadows appear pretty much solo, I've only found Children so far.
Add Granites, groups of 1 or 2, to the golem mix and increase their frequency--by a LOT (LOVE them golems).
Haven't seen a Linvak Ursuin yet, but saw their younger cousins--Scavenger and Field Ursuin--in groups of 1 and 2 (change for the better, I think).
Haven't seen an Azure Gromnie, but their larger Ivory and Jade cousins are in no short supply.
Only Blue Wasps now, and much more rare.
Add Lithos and Gigas to the Lugian mix, and decrease the general Lugian frequency.
Add Reedsharks: Elder, Veteran--increase the spawn frequency. It's about like it was between Holtburg and Arwic before the patch (boo! I never liked 'em). The Shreth seemed to have gone away for the most part, did find a couple Hunter/Blood and Vorous spawns.

Also, VERY rare, are Scrawed (maybe Virulent, I didn't hang around) Grievvers. Most unusual for Osteth, they're mean, and they could be on the way to the Cit (booo!).

Also, Storm reported big ol' Monougas, I met a few, not nice. Larger drudges--Stalkers and Ravs--also sometimes make guest appearances, not very nice but great loot and XP if you can do it.
