The School

In the land of Encora, in the city of Askavi, there lays the main castle where the queen lives. Beside it, there is another building similar to the castle. It is called The Keep, and it contains two different parts. Depending what you want to study, you can either go to Mid-Knight Tower or Crystal Hall. The head of the entire Keep is Karigan Pellinor. He is not seen around very often, but he is always watching every one's progress.

Mid-Knight Tower - The main training place for the Knights, but not only knights-in-training go there. All students at the school are required to participate in daily exercises, unless they are for some reason physically incapable.  Knights learn the knights code of honor, as well as how to act in court. Skills that are required to be learned include the sword, short bow, how to properly ride and take care of a horse, and survival skills. Some students will be picked for other activities such as the lance, ax, long bow, staff, bow, and the bokan. Others may be taught non-weapon fighting. All students beyond their first year are required to wear weights. 5 pounds is added to the weights every 2 weeks. Knights-in-training are taught simple spells like candle lighting and other small helpful things. There are four years of schooling before a young knight-in-training goes into apprenticeship for 2 years. The current teachers at Mid-Knight Tower are Master Mage Ladon and Zander Elhyme.

Crystal Hall - The main training place for students who want to become mages. Mages in training learn all the basic spells, like fire lighting and the moving of objects with one's mind, as well as more complicated stuff later on. Most students end up learning Basic Clerics first with Professor Demonica before learning anything more difficult. Unlike Knight training, mages are allowed to stop their training at any time, depending what color robe they wish to have.  Here is the levels of robes, starting with the weakest.

White
Yellow
Green
Blue
Red
Purple
Gray
Black

Once a Mage reaches the black level, they can continue training for gold stripes on their robes.  Each gold stripe tells how strong you are in that level. For example, a Blue Robed mage with five stripes on his/her robe is stronger than another Blue Robed mage with, let's say, three gold stripes. Once you have 10 gold stripes on one of the lower leveled robes, you proceed to the next level, but at the black, you just continue to acquire stripes. The strength of a mage depends entirely on that person's hard work and ability. Some mages end up having a specific specialty, like a fire mage or an earth mage. There are few cases where a mage becomes greedy, and turns his/her magic evil. These people are called dark mages, and have been known to teach the dark arts. As far as the school knows, this practice is not being taught......

Mages training at Crystal Hall are also required to exercise with the rest of the school. The teachers believe that if the body is unexercised, the body will not be as strong. There-fore, all students at The Keep exercise daily.

That is pretty much every thing about the separate parts of The Keep. The main keep makes sure to teach students court etiquette. They are also required to learn arithmetic and reading. Every day, students are required to serve the enders in the court as messengers or anything else that may be helpful, in order to be able to watch the way the elders act. This has been found to be very helpful, and most students trained at The Keep grow up to be bright and helpful citizens to the community.
