The process of making Metallium is quite interesting. The gel like substance is made of an animal called Kren. Kren expands when electrical shocks hit its nuclei like red center, stimulating its self-defense system. Its self defense system is hardening. The Ken itself can shock itself using its low powered lightning glands, but in order to get it to harden when you need it to scientist and amorist devised this plan. By carefully microbes, which would distribute electrical shocks, on the out edges of the Kren they could get the Kren to harden into an armor at will. They mircrobes somewhat irratate the Kren's skin causing the red spots on it.
