Contract Execution

Some say the lure of wealth and fame is enough to tempt any man to his death. Karli had banked on that and prepared for any other eventuality should that fail. As darkness blanketed the lands, Karli perched at the ready just inside Bar-Kul. She had been there for hours. She couldn't afford to be late on this deal. She assumed Felix was a paranoid one. He'd probably take an entourage and a bag of tricks to check out the information he had so unsuggestively been given.

Shortly after midnight, the stealthy steps of one accustomed to remaining undetected reached her accute ears. She may have questioned who it was, if not for the light fingers of fog that had begun to snake their sadistic fingers through the underbrush. Metering even her breathing, Karli readied her weapon, watching to see if the man of the hour had any escorts that would need dealing with. The raven would deal with Felix, it was her duty to ensure that there were no witnesses.

She had come prepared and luckilly so, as three figures she sighted lurking through the slowly accumilating sea of fog. Pulling her mask forward and exposing her ivory white hair for added camoflague within the curls of moisture, she waited until they had passed beneath her and onwards before letting herself slip from the branch in a free fall, spreading her wings to cushion her fall and touch down without a sound. Grasping her garotte in one hand, so as to ready it for a one handed strangle strike, she drew her sickle to the ready in her other hand, the blade behind her instead of in front. Preparations complete, she lifted herself a foot off the ground as not to coax a single foot fall from the cluttered forest floor and proceeded.

The group whispered to eat other in complaint as the fog grew even more dense. Using their conversation as her guide, Karli drew dangerously close. All she needed was the signal that the deal was about to be sealed, then Felix's companions would be momentarilly distracted enough for her to make her skillful strikes and direct the raven towards the proper man.

A chill breeze cut through the fog and Karli faught the urge to shiver as goosebumps rose along her bare arms. The nocturnal sounds of Bar-Kul drew deathly quiet, and Karli prepared her wings for the single burst that would project her into the group.

A cry, only familiar to Karli suddenly tore through the fog both picth in tone and more bone chilling then the fog. With the cue given and the men distracted, Karli lowered her head and burst through the fog amoungst the men. A moment of fear and chaos was all Karli saw in the eyes of Felix's companions as she whipped her garotte away from herself to get wrapped around one of the men's throats. Yanking the weapon towards her, she brought her sickle out and about in a decapitation maneuver towards the other companion. Turning her gaze from her deeds as she felt metal dissect flesh, she caught sight of the raven in a death plunge towards the only remaining man, Felix.

With a second final, soul crushing cry, the raven swooped low above the head of the wanted man. Dropping to her knees to avoid being within reach of the ravens grasp, Karli waited as the raven tore the very soul from Felix in its passing. Shaking her head in disdain, she stared at the ground as Felix's lifeless body crumpled to the earth before her. Looking up slowly, she avoided the condemned torror filled gaze of the dead man and began moving towards his corpse.

Hooking her sickle against her belt, she took her garotte in both hands, sliding it beneath Felix's neck. Placing one foot on his forehead and the other on his chest, she put the weapon to use and seperated the head of the man from it's quickly cooling body. Tossing her pack to the ground, she pulled out a sack as close in description as the contract had requested. Drawing her dirk, she carved a simple "K" into Felix's forehead before placing it into the bag.

It'd didn't take long for the fog to begin to lift, and with it, Karli herself planned to receed. Whistling for her wolf, she cleaned her weapons while she waited. Once mounted, she ordered Blood Freedom to head home where she could seal the deal.

A simple package left for Robyn to guard and Karli slipped into the guild for some reading, then sleep.
