Cell Saga

The Cell Saga begins as Gohan, Trunks, and Bulma head out to investigate a time machine that looks a lot like Trunks'. Upon investigation they find that the time machine actually is Trunks'. Inside the time machine they find a small egg like structure. While Bulma tries to figure out what it is Gohan heads into the brush and finds a shell of what seems to be an extremely large bug. Trunks determines that it's fresh. Bulma heads back to Capsule Corp. with the egg and Trunks and Gohan head off to tell the others.

Meanwhile Kami surveys the situation and continues to contemplate whether or not to join with Piccolo.

Back at Kame House the Z Senshi learn of a strange creature who is absorbing the people of Ginger Town. Kami sees this as well and makes the decision to rejoin with Piccolo. The two join and head off to Ginger Town to face this creature. Upon entering Ginger Town the "reborn" Piccolo finds that nearly all of the inhabitants have been destroyed. From behind a building steps a strange green creature. In it's hand is a helpless citizen of Ginger Town. The creature absorbs this man in front of Piccolo. Apparently angered Piccolo attacks. The two fight and after seeming to have control of the fight Piccolo begins to weaken and is caught off-guard as the creature sinks its tail into his arm. The creature begins to absorb Piccolo's arm. Piccolo manages to break free and holds off the creature with questions. Piccolo learns that the creature's name is Cell. He was designed by the evil Dr. Gero using cells from the strongest fighters in the universe. After the questioning Piccolo rips off his already dead arm and regenerates a new one. He tells Cell that the questions were just a cover so that he could gather enough energy to regenerate. Krillin and Trunks arrive on the scene and Cell takes to the air. Using the Solar Flare he blinds all three of them and makes an escape. Trunks, Piccolo, Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and Gohan head out after Cell. Many times they come close to finding him, but unfortunately he always seems to be just one step ahead of them. He continues on his rampage, absorbing countless victims along the way. Unable to capture Cell the Z Senshi return to Kame House. While there the androids make an appearance and Piccolo steps outside to challenge them. They head off to an island away from Kame House and prepare to fight. Piccolo stands waiting as Android 17 gets ready. The two begin their fight as Androids 18 and 16 look on. Mid-way through their fight Piccolo picks up on Cell's ki signature. He scans the area and spots Cell. He yells for the Androids to run and he immediately attacks Cell. After absorbing the humans, however, Cell had grown in power and he easily disposes of Piccolo. Android 17 then takes his chances against Cell. After putting up quite an effort 17 nearly gets absorbed, but is recued by Android 16. After beating Cell senseless (and ripping off his tail), Android 16 slams him into the ground and hits him with his Hell's Flash. Androids 17 and 18 begin to celebrate, but 16 informs them that Cell is not dead. Suddenly from behind 17 Cell emerges from the ground. Android 16 rushes to help, but is to late as Cell absorbs 17.
