Welcome Candidates Candidatemaster G'fen of brown Mirith
If you have, or are planning on having a candidate, this is the page for you. Here you can read the rules, get the schedule, and basically learn what it means to be a candidate at Bitkim. If after reading through this page, you have any questions regarding candidacy or your candidate character, please e-mail Beth, Sendria@juno.com
Rules
What would a Weyr be without the all important rules?
- 1. Sex and alcohol are prohibited.
- 2. Complete respect at all times toward any full rider. This also includes obedience. This also holds for any ranking position within the weyr (ie: Headwoman, Weyrharper, Weyrhealer etc.)
- 3.No fighting. Any disputes or problems among candidates are to be brought immediately to the candidatemaster.
- 4.Any lectures or classes must be attended (unless you have a note from the weyrhealer)
- 5.No food or drink in the barracks.
- 6.Barracks are to be kept spotless. There will be inspections.
- 7. No pets in the barracks. (firelizards are the only exception)
- 8.Candidates are not to leave the Weyr without permission from the candidatemaster.
First offense gets a warning. Too many warnings and candidate will not be allowed to stand. If your character is a troublemaker or of that nature, I'm sure something can be worked out.
Schedule *With Bitkim being terribly understaffed, candidates are to continue studying their craft if possible, if no prior craft they can choose one. If the craft is not offered at the Weyr, they can help out with noncraft duties (such as message delivery for weyr officials), or will be assigned where needed.
Morning-breakfast, heavy chores, free time or class if being held
- Afternoon-Lunch, craft or helping with a weyr duty*
Evening-dinner, light chores, free time, lights out
Classes/Lectures
Just an idea of some of the topics covered may not rp all of themIf there is something in particular you would like to have rp'd just let me know. All it takes is one request.
- expectations of a candidate & what it means
- candidate robes- history and creating your own
- the sands-what to expect at a hatching and how to behave
- what to do if you impress/don't impress
- if there is a gold egg females will have a special class
- "basic" dragon care ie:initial feeding & oiling
- egg touching (will always be rp'd)
Barracks Etc.
I'm putting this in because it seems that different Weyrs(clubs) have different setups. So to dispell any confusion I'm laying it out.
- The barracks are divided into a male half and a female half. There is no connecting door between the two. You must exit one and re-enter the other from the hallway outside. The two sections are identical. Cots line the wall, each with a chest at the foot and a small table beside. -A large table with chairs rests at the far end for cards, socializing and such.
- Candidates are to use the male or female bathing halls the same as everyone else. No seperate facilities for candidates.
- The candidatemaster's office is located a short distance down the hall from the barracks.
- Meals will be taken at the candidate table, unless permission granted for other arrangement.
- A plain white knot representing candidacy will be worn along with any prior knots (these will not be abandoned until impression)
Good Luck! See you on the Sands!
