Avalon was born Rayne Fumiko, twin of Shayne Fumiko. Upon their birth, their father, Nathan, slayed their mother for the reason that neither twin was male. Nathan hired a woman named Lynnessa to look after them. When Rayne and Shayne were around two years old, Nathan sent Lynnessa out to make some purchases. Upon her return Nathan informed her that the twins had been stolen. He put up a convincing act, having bloodied and bruised himself up. He released Lynnessa from her duties. She left that day without hearing the mournful cries of the young girls from deep within the stone basement.

For the next 17 years Rayne and her twin remained in that basement. Each day Nathan ould open the door slightly pushing a measly mound of food through. When he was gone to work each day the twins would dig at the dirt floor, one night finally gaining their escape. Together they made their way to safety, crossing a river to attain freedom. Weak from hunger and years of being locked in that basement, thet collapsed when they reached the peak of the embankment on the other side of the river.

Upon awakening Rayne looked around frantically for her twin. Finally able to focus she notices she is inside a house, and there is a man sleeping near her. Rayne pokes him weakly. "My sister, where is she?" he replied "Miss, you were alone when i found ye on the embankment". She begins to weep. "Miss I am sorry for your loss" She tries to stand, falling down weakly. "My father will certainly know we escaped and he will be looking for us."

"Do not worry Miss, he will never find you here, I will keep you safe." For the next five years Rayne remained in this mans home. She learned his name was Xavier, and he would become her mentor. Xavier nursed her back to health and then began to train her. During those five years Rayne became strong, well conditioned, and gained fighting prowess. Xavier also taught her a type of magick usable by mortals like herself. Late on evening Xavier roused Rayne from her sleep. "Rayne you are a strong young woman, you are ready to move on to a safer place. The word in town is that your father found your twin Shayne and is doing everything he can to recapture you as well, you must flee." Xavier places a large sum of money and some food into a sack. "Don't forget me.... Avalon" Rayne looks at Xavier. 'Avalon?' He replies "I am sorry, I had always wanted a child of my own had it been a girl i would have named her Avalon." Rayne thinks a moment and then smiles softly. "Then Avalon I shall be" She turns and walks off into the night too preoccupied with hiding her own tears to notice his.
Avalon walks off into the night not realizing that their paths crossing again years down the road is her destiny.....
