Roleplaying Etiquette

There are several things to keep in mind when roleplaying in Midnight Dawn.
First and foremost, write in a third person perspective narrative style. Don't use first person perspective or 'God mode' perspective.
While both of these are common in tabletop role-playing, prior experience has shown that third person narrative is the best for on-line gaming.

Example #1: "Bob walked down the street, and met up with Joe at the corner." **hai**
Example #2: "I walked down the street and met up with Joe at the corner." **nai**

But remember, there are exeptions to every rule. There are cirtain parts of RPGing where it is more proper to write in First Person, though they do not occur often, so please do not use First Person unless absolutly necassary, it might disrupt the RPG and it will cirtainly be out of place.

When your character speaks, use quotation marks. Don't use simple narration unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.

In addition, please don't leave 'blank spaces' for other characters to reply unless ABSOLUTELY necessary.

This particular RPG takes place in "past tense". Your actions and storytelling should basicly end with "ed". Like:

Example: "He walked..." **hai**
Example: "He walks..." **nai**

Next, don't role-play other people's characters, ou only have control over your own character. You have no control over what other characters say, act, or think. Playing other people's characters may cause undue friction between you and the other player(s). Though it is necassary sometimes, just dont make any giant desicions. Things like "Joe helped Bob up." is okay, or "Joe and Bob walked down the street."

Finally, you don't have to wait for the moderator to post to a turn. The moderator is only there to resolve major events that require mediation, and combat situations. So long as what is happening isn't going to change the face of the world, or isn't a combat situation, don't wait for the moderator. Just continue role-playing! You and the other players are encouraged to develop your characters as life-like as you wish. Get into relationships, argue, create rivalries, go out, see the sights, etc.! Experiment! Just don't do anything that will change the nature of the game.

Sexual, and same-sex relationships are allowed, we do not discriminate here at MD. But if we see lewd comments, or racial (or sexual) slurs, we will repremand the person who spoke them... severly
