Early background: Gian's true name was Triton, after his Merman father. Gian's mother was human, his father was a merman. Gian mostly took from the human side, his appearance, tastes and traits are human, however, the mer- side of him lets him feel totally at home in the water, sing like a siren, and made his eyes a deep icey blue. His father disappeared shortly after he was born, leaving his mother with a baby she couldn't care for. While the Menottis' were traveling back from a auction, His mother gave them the child and begged them to take him and raise him. Gian doesn't know of this and considers himself human and only recently learned of his true mother.

Life events: Upon his 19th birthday, Gian's father took him aside from the festivities and told him of how they came to finding and raising him. The next day, Gian set out with a few suitcases of clothes and make-up, and the golden foil his adopted father gave him, all to find his real mother and father and learn to truth about himself.
