Summertide 24 (Part 2)

A the party descends the stairs they are attacked by a flying imp like creature bursting forth from the water.  The fight goes round and around until Milo decides to attack it head on and charges into the water.  After a couple steps Milo is submerged up to his chin and barely manages to swim to shore!  Being 2'10" has its disadvantages.  The other fighters, taller fighters, wade in and begin swinging!  Lighting begins to become a problem so Liarrin whips out a candle and hands it off to Toro.

Toro, not thinking straight from the recent blast of caustic cold from the water imp, tosses the candle aside saying "What do I need light for, I'm an elf!"  Unfortunately the humans and halflings in the party do need light!

The fight seems to be going the party's way until the water imp steps back and blasts a stinking cloud in the center of the room.  Every member of the party becomes ill and is forced to retreat.  Liarrin and Falin go down one passage and begin to make a torch out of torn cloth and lamp oil.   Milo and Samo run up the stairs to the safety of fresh air and light a lantern.  The two fighters, Rentric and Toro commence vomiting down another hall.

A few minutes later everyone is back, holding there breath, looking for the water imp.  It is obvious by now that this is one tough little guy.  He must have some sort of regeneration and/or damage reduction.  The fight rages on and this time Milo is struck down - HARD!  Liarrin races over to heal the little guy just as the water imp blasts off another caustic cold cone.  Toro and Rentric hack it down in a final chop.

After regrouping, the party journeys on down the corridor.  As they approach, a bright blast lights the room ahead.  Standing there are two humans, one armed with a bow.  The bowman fires an arrow towards Rentric, while the other runs for help.  Falin chases after the one human while Liarrin casts Charm Person on the bowman.  The bowman is now under the spell and will do nothing to harm the party.

The bowman gives up a lot of information regarding the citadel and the Zhentirium.  His partner gets away however.  As the party escapes the keep, they notice a group of riders investigating the portal.  Milo decides that he has had enough adventuring and leaves with the riders of Mistledale.  The party turns over the captured Zhent and is told a reward awaits them in Ashenbedford.  The party returns to camp, minus Milo, to spend the rest of the day resting and regaining lost spells.  They will explore the rest of the keep tomorrow.
