It was annoying to wait until the eggs in the black sands to hatch. She was anxious to see whether any of these 'hy-dragons' were worthy of her. Certainly their sire was, she was impressed by the large red and black 10-headed hydra...and few things impressed her. Finally, after what seemed like a long and wasted stay at Cy she and the others who had been 'Searched' were called to the Nero Sands for the hatching.
The name and looks of the Sands amused Akana, they reminded her of her home. Hot and dark...now the hatching.
The first egg split showing the hatchling to be a bronze/black thing with sharp horns. Ahh...black..such a lovely color. The evil Empress watched with amusement as what would be a four-headed hy-dragon started attacking a jackal creature then was set upon by a black and red hatchling. Unfortunately the jackal and the red-black decided the fight wasn't worth their time... What a pity.
The next hy-dragon was just as vicious, if not more so, than the first two. He immediately made a comment about bonding and destroying then tried to attack his dam's bond. The mother dragon wouldn't stand for that, however, and promptly thwacked her child away. Undaunted, the hatchling leapt at Hieyiakana instead, sinking his claws into her wing. BIG MISTAKE!
With a jerk of her host's wing the Empress sent the hatchling flying to the sand in front of her. She made a slash at the hatchling, but found nothing but sand. Someone had pulled the little wretch out of the way! Akana hissed a bit as she watched the new pair leave, but smirked as she heard the screams of a human the demon-creature had kept for his brat-hatchling.
The rest of the hatching was equally amusing. Lots of attempts to kill people; and a candidate came in late after killing a dragonrider and attempting an attack on one of Cy's residents. No dragon for Hieyiakana, but she'd really not taken much of a liking to any of the hatchlings. They were all far too inferior for a creature such as her, not nearly as great as their sire.
Then the largest egg broke, spilling a golden shape onto the sands. As the hy-dragonet picked herself up it became clear that she would be queen of all she surveyed. The monster was a deep gold with a red belly and tailtip. She already had three heads with one gold and two silver crests baring gems of bright colors. The best was yet to come, though, and Dohosh was the first to notice it with a hiss of delight. This one had ten head nubs that would grow into serpentine heads. A thirteen-headed hydra! Even greater than her sire.
All of the gold's heads turned towards the Dark One. Hieyiakana, you are the only one here worthy. Though I know not whose body you possess I can sense your spirit, dark like mine. Yes, I will help you find your true form.
Akana felt Kiyana's mind cringe away from the prescence as dark as the Empress's that filled their shared mind, and smiled ruthlessly. "It will be good to have help that doesn't snivle in fear. I accept you, Diosama." The hy-dragonet snorted in recognition and followed her bond to the make-shift kitchen. Snapping at any of the candidates she could reach and leaving many with bite wounds.
