Wildeholme

On a distant shore of the New Sea lies a land charted on Ansalon's maps and known to many, but traveled by few. Journeymen, adventurers and seekers of higher learning are most often found landing upon this shore, and the destination to which they travel is Wildeholme.

It is nearly unnoticeable to the casual wayfarer, and those who seek the citadel must travel a pass that cuts through the mountain that acts as barrier to this land, then over a thickly wooded road. Journey's end treats the seeker to an incredible and inspiring sight... a citadel of eight corners, fashioned from red stone and miles in length, jutting upward from the depths of a lightless chasm. It is not pentagonal in shape, but rather a solid square fortress that seems to increase outward in size in the far distance. Watchtowers rise at every corner of Wildeholme, and a striking pair of twin spires can be seen above and beyond the monstrous portcullis raised to admit passage into the citadel's confines. A growth of creeping ivy has gained foothold on the highest part of every wall adding to a sense of old, perhaps ancient workmanship of the stone.

Nestled into the foremost corner of Wildeholme is its most well known gathering place, The Griffon's Den Tavern.

Opposite the Griffon's Den, to your left and further to the north, is the Training Grounds, where Wildeholme's novices and masters gather to train while travellers observe from nearby. It is populated now only by a group of young men and women sitting in a semi-circle around a man in black leathers.

Raised from the same stone as the rest of the citadel, Wildeholme's library, the Hall of Archives, could easily be mistaken for a cathedral. Nearly half the height of the city's twin spires, the Hall spans almost the entire width of the keep. While the highest levels of the library have open windows and terraces, the lower levels have stained glass windows to stave off the elements. The glass has been worked in many colors, depicting most of the gods of neutrality. Roads on both sides of the library lead to double-doored entryways.

Directly before you lies a road leading to the twin structures which are home to the Guardians of Wildeholme, the Daybreak and Sunset Spires. The two buildings are separated by the Twilight Pavilion, a public meeting hall that is nearly half their height. Public gossip tells of preparations for war now being made within the walls of the pavilion.

Like the elven sla-mori, the D'har Ergoti is virtually unknown in most of the Ansalonian-Arctic lands. Translated as the "Ergothian Crossroads", it is a series of pathways to other Homelands associated with the continent. Constructed by a mage whose name is no longer spoken within the walls of Wildeholme, the ways provide a journeyman links to virtually any Arctic-related homeland they may choose. Does your road lead beyond Wildeholme? If so, the D'har Ergoti is what you seek.

Current updates:

(01/01/05)It's been that long since an update, eh? Time and tide have apparently taken their toll on the Links page, and several Arctic sites apparently no longer exist. Links removed for: Tempest, Blood Sea Index, Morten, Tikk, Zairil, Backlash and Royal Dwarven Army. Feel free to send any new links.
(07/28/03)Two new logs added to the Hall of Archives, the start of an on-going series called "Dragon Slayers". Not the terribly exciting PK-kind, but those that like mob fights may find them interesting.
(07/23/03) Two new links on the Links page that bored folks may find of interest... Viking Runes and Googlism. New clans wanting their pages linked should send a tell to Wayre or email spwild@yahoo.com.
(03/03/03)OoooOooo, evil Triple-3 Trinity thingamajig day. Coinciding with... a new link on the Ergoti, Galcapa's page.
(02/13/03)9th Wipe Chronology in the Hall of Archives has been updated to the wipe's conclusion, and 10th Wipe Chronology has been added.
Things to come?
Adding sections to the training grounds - with survival and general information for newer players. Perhaps a grove with a plaque of the Arctic's notorious. A site map to be added as well. Conversion of .txt documents to .htm coming as well. Sorry about those! Going to update the Site Map for the new Pavilion at some point. Going to add Chronologies for past wipes in the Hall of Archives w/ commentary. The Twilight Pavilion is in the middle of renovation for the Shield-Bearer statues. This will basically be a set of statues depicting the past and present bearers of the Huma shield. To this end, I am seeking the names, clans, and wipe in which they held the shield for past ShieldBearers. This is turning into a somewhat difficult project, but any information along these lines can be relayed by emailing the aforementioned address or talking to Wayre. Thanks!
Seeking:
Comments/criticism. Constructive kinds that is! Seeking links to any Arctic-related pages. Also seeking webpage addies for public links of new clans that are available to other players. I'm also looking for: links for JMC and Wintin, and a copy of the Skeleton Castle FAQ (does it exist?) for the Griffon's Den, and welcome any other submissions of Arctic based humour/war logs. Author will be noted in the file as POV and noted if the two are different. Rules for submission: keep it clean, added/editted at my discretion.
