Mind your own business
Is all I wish to say,
For those of who wish me to be like them
As I am on my way.

Not all wounds bleed,
And not all blades kill
For some wounds are of the soul
The heart
The mind
And the blades that make these wounds
Are not of steel
Of iron
Of Rock
They are of words
Of actions
Of laughter
And these blades hurt the most above all

They have come for me
With their unforgiving eyes
To carry me away they say
To a time where things are bright
But in their eyes
All I see is greed
To feed their lives
With my soul of which they see

I've shed blood for you
Tears for you
I've felt pain for you
Love for you
But you never feel anything for me
You never shed anything for me
Where's the love you said we shared?
Where's the friendship that we had?
With all the time we've spent together
Why can't you be with me?

As I walked along the sidewalk
I heard a tweet from a passerby
'Twas a friend I once knew
Or so I thought at the time
There's not a night I don't think of it
Of how my trust was betrayed
Of how my life was oh so changed
What has happened to my heart?
What has happened to my soul?
I ask these questions to myself
As I cheerly smile and pass courtesies along
What kind of person have I become?

A new beginning
Is all I wish to have
Where I mean something
To someone other than myself

A new beginning
With a new life
And a new job
With new memories on the side

A new beginning
Where my thoughts have value
And my life has meaning
And my soul has a purpose

A new beginning
Where my spirit can be free
My dreams can soar
Far above the hole I am in

A new beginning
Where I can trust all
I can love everyone
Without regrets

A new beginning
Where the only blades there are
Are made of steel
Not of the words of which they are

I have nothing to do today
So I sit here thinking about my life
The ups and the downs
The twists and the turns
The work and the play
The joy and the pain
And I see that though I cannot change my past
I can use my past to affect my future
