WEEK EIGHT: Flaming

OOC things to get done this week:

Fly around the bowl and forest area, think about where you would like your
weyr to be. Try to get these in sometime this week. I'll let you know when
the last dealine is.

IC things to do:

Practice formations from the air with each other. Remember, they are the
same thing as your ground formations only in the air.

The Lesson:

Now you will complete the final phase of your training as a weyrling as you
and your lifemate learn how to chew firestone and make flame. (No, *you*
don't get to chew it, the dragon does.) Realisticly, the introduction takes
one day and must be handled with extreme care. The ability to chew
firestone is natural in your dragons, the exercise must be supervised by the
WLMs.

First, you'll be given softer stone that actually isn't firestone itself.
This gets the dragons used to thinking of their "other stomach." Aslo
getting the weyrlings familiar with the procedures.

After the dragons have gotten this step down, the WLM gives the pair true
firestone. Low grade ore to start off with, and the dragon produces only a
small flame. At the end of the "day," the pair will have trained up to
producing full flames!

Now is time to take to the skies and try out flaming here! The WLM will
only take those pairs with potential for these more challenging drills.
Each pair will go up with a bag of firestone and toss in those chunks from
their place in straps on the dragons. Watch out below for pieces that might
not make it to being chewed!
